Highroad in Canberra, Australia by Foolscap Studio

Friday, March 1st, 2019

Article source: Foolscap Studio

Foolscap Studio was tasked with creating a space that Canberra’s inner-north would value as a genuinely unique hospitality experience – a place to call their own, without journeying into town. The team behind ONA Coffee and The Cupping Room developed a brief that strongly resonated with their own offerings’ principles: confident and specialist delivery of quality products, happy experimentation delivered with flair, remaining approachable and humble. The space warmly and easily transitions from day into night, encouraging guests to linger and treat Highroad as a home away from home.

Lodge on the Lake in Canberra, Australia by Stephen Collier Architects

THE LAKE ON THE LODGE IDEAS COMPETITION – EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

What if the British, instead of completely and summarily dismissing Aboriginal people and their culture, took a more open approach to Aboriginal people, culture and knowledge systems? This country would be one where the chances of an indigenous or non-indigenous Prime Minister would have been the same at every election since Federation. As a result Australia would now have an equal meeting of cultures and (cultural) influence.
