Thursday, December 29th, 2022

Article source: Driss Kettani

Villa Salam is projected on a north-south orientated plot, in a residential neighborhood in Casablanca. The house is attached to another one on the east side. The plot benefits from a sea view on the north side. The main concept is to have an open, transparent and fluid sense of the space, while maintaining the required privacy, in particular for the service spaces. Thus, the plan is organized around a kind of spine, patella which are the straight stairs.

Lm House in Casablanca, Morocco by Elements Lab

Monday, April 8th, 2019

Article source: Elements Lab

Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, is a hyperactive and chaotic city of nearly 5 million inhabitants where cars are steadily replacing trees.

When designing a home for my family, I had in mind the idea of a quiet place away from chaos, a fortress against the constant agitation of everyday life.

Gradually, this idea was nourished by the image of the Riad, this typical Arab-Andalusian house modestly closed off from the public and open in its center on a planted patio.

Article source: Driss Kettani Architecte

This house is projected on a north-south oriented plot and features a blind façade on the street while being largely open on the side and the back with the south oriented garden.

The plan “silhouette” is the consequence of the urban rules and the need to perfectly fit with the adjoining house on the east.
