New market in Celje, Slovenia by Arhitektura Krušec

Friday, January 20th, 2017

Article source: Arhitektura Krušec

The town market is situated in the heart of the city. Ever since it was formed, in the middle of the previous century, the market has represented the centre of urban activity in the city.

In contrast to the old market, the new development is designed as an extrovert urban area, a kind of covered city square which is inextricably linked to the surrounding urban space.

KAYAK CLUB in CELJE, SLOVENIA by GRIL KIKELJ ARHITEKTI

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: GRIL KIKELJ ARHITEKTI

The afternoon sunlight illuminates the top of AnskiVrh hill and reflects off the surface of the rather fast Savinja River. The river is surrounded by cliffs, occasionally creating whitewater sections suitable for kayaking. People from the town of Celje are walking along the Savinja walkways. Rivet banks in any urban habitat are areas of great architectural interest, especially where urban path s and roads connect with the river environment. Those are precious locations where rivers form bays and cape s, forks or basins. Accompanied by the appropriate architectural elements, such places refine the urban area. This is also the case with the new kayak club construction on a river promontory in Celje, built after the old club premises were burnt down.

Vrunčeva Residential Building in Celje, Slovenia by Enota Architects

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Article source: Enota Architects

Residential complex Vrunčeva introduces a new typology of the city block unit. The modification of the block unit as laid out by the zoning legislation is the result of finding a direct answer to the spatial challenges of the site and ensuring high-quality habitation combined with excellent flexibility and energy efficiency for the building. The building is designed as a kind of hybrid of the classical block unit development and terraced structures characteristic of more open, suburban spaces.
