The training facilities of the Santiago Fire brigade are located in the suburban area of the Metropolitan Region, where the volunteer firefighters receive special training, as well as carrying out sports and other recreational activities.

The first variable facing the project was the climate, since the place has sparse vegetation and most training activities take place outdoors, where shade was an essential and scarce commodity

Acrobatic Arts Center in Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile by DX Arquitectos

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016

Article source: DX Arquitectos

From the architect. The first mission of the Acrobatic Arts Center building was placed in the city as a container of culture, in which the citizen forms an essential part of it. it is in this relation where the building is completed.

The proposal is based on the communion of two architectural elements which support activities to develop and allow the solution to problems and intentions raised: A first element is the platform that seeks to tie the city, outside, with the existing topography. This platform allows citizens to connect with the building inside.

Las Trancas House in Araucanía Region, Chile by CIA_ARQ

Wednesday, July 13th, 2016

Article source: CIA_ARQ

The Las Trancas house is the first of a series of new constructions on this . It’s a starting point for the colonization of this property, located on the banks of lake Calafquen near Coñaripe. A virgin place which must be tamed.

For this first construction, the project’s logic had to be as fitting to local knowledge as possible, because due to the terrain’s characteristics and the difficulties of access, most of the materials, techniques and workmanship used would have to be local, presenting a somewhat technically atemporal construction.

Friday, July 1st, 2016

Article source: Alejandro Soffia / Architect

In 1953 Le Corbusier wrote a letter to the Chilean Architects, and was sent through Emilio Duhart, a very important Chilean Architect that was drawing for him the buildings that he was doing in that moment in India. In this letter he emphasize the need on taking care of people while developing a design process. He said that “in that moment academic ideas where left behind, and the smallest measurements, the shorter distances or the smallest built spaces, become precious as a glass of water in the desert”.

Makuc House in Chiloé, Chile by OruzarGebauer Architects

Friday, June 17th, 2016

Article source: OruzarGebauer Architects

This project is located in the north of the big island of Chiloé, in an area called Huei hue, where the sea penetrates the land as a stretchmark, weaving a close relationship between land and sea.

The terrain is located in a sort of a peninsula from where it strategically dominates the relations with its surroundings: on the one hand, the inland entries of the sea that come from this arm, and on the other hand the immeasurable Gulf of Ancud, having as its backdrop the detachment of the Andes and its volcanoes, generously receiving the light from the east, north and west, and thus exposing itself incidentally to the strong winds and rain coming from the northwest.
