The house is located in a privileged area of ground in terms of views, orientation, etc.. so the shape of the house adapts to the existing, respecting the existence of a large rock cliff and a number of native trees. Both the shape of the house as its program does not serve the purpose of intervening the natural landscape. that is why the house is composed of two volumes connected by a bridge way around the rock and adapt to the position of the trees.
Replacing an existing structure used as a barn on a farm in the region of Bio Bio, it is requested to rebuild a higher-capacity version with 4 stables, 2 cellars and 1 trough. Because of the distance and the labour shortage, it is devised a mechanized construction system to be assembled on the site by two carpenters on a short time. The system combines a series of galvanized steel precast units with pine wood modular elements and the reuse of old demolition roof tiles.
The assignment consisted of projecting a country house for the rest of a family in the middle of nature. The site is part of an extensive park shared by a group of constructions, among which emphasizes a chapel projected by 57STUDIO (El Roble Chapel).
The commission is a small family chapel for 40 seated people in a slightly sloping lot next to a forest of Australian mimosa trees. From the top there are views of a set of vernacular buildings (adobe houses and wine cellars) inserted in a natural landscape of vineyards, pines and nature forests.
The assignment arises from a contest to build the dependencies of a construction company, with a diverse program of Warehouse, Workshop, Offices and Cafeteria. The proposal is based on taking the diversity of materials, the recognizable structures and the basic shapes, as architectonic elements that are present in the works of the company.
This single-family residence is located in the south shore of the Todos los Santos Lake in southern Chile, surrounded by native forests and several volcanoes.
Insertion of the project on the site. The implantation was designed as gentle as possible, in order to preserve the level difference of the site and the views. We created two side stone walls, like a programmatic box with the social and service areas of the house.
From the architect. The project corresponds to the reconstruction of a heritage building.
It is part of the educational infrastructure from Protectora de la Infancia in the town of Puente Alto, Santiago, that welcomes vulnerable minors in extreme poverty.
The fast paced project was developed in four months and built in 8 months.
Iansa is the principal producer, distributor and seller of sugar in Chile. The company was looking to house the production of their new sweetener Cero K. A 30 x 50 mts two-story 8.5mt high warehouse was the starting point to house the various programmatic requirements. The actual productive process in developing the sweetener became the core of the project resulting in a 4- story 14mt high central structure cladded in Transparent Alveolar Sunlite Polycarbonate that would pierce the main volume functioning both as an independent and cohesive element at the same time.
