Parque El Virrey Building in Bogotá, Colombia by Daniel Bonilla Arquitectos

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

Article source: Daniel Bonilla Arquitectos

This small format residential building is located in a small plot in front of an urban park (El Virrey park). Its concept is the reinterpretation of the previously existing house architecture, consisting of a first floor basement and an overriding superposed box on the second floor. As part of the concept, it was repeated three times in order to create a sequence between mass and void.

Bogotá has had a renowned tradition in building high-quality social housing projects. The site, given its privileged location, presented a unique opportunity to once again claim the throne in contemporary social housing developments. Rather than work with a single apartment, we chose to scale up the unit to a group of 16 apartments.

Universidad EAN – El Nogal Campus in Bogotá, Colombia by Daniel Bonilla Arquitectos

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Article source: Daniel Bonilla Arquitectos

Universidad EAN – El Nogal Campus – Classroom building is the result of a competition by invitation, where we propose to set up a university campus where the buildings are as important as the common open spaces. A place where students can meet, study, rest, … a second home for education and fun. The strategy was to generate a large colective space, a central upward spiral, surrounded by a classroom building (Phase 1) and the offices and welfare building.

High School Classroom Building in Bogotá, Colombia by Daniel Bonilla Arquitectos

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Article source: Daniel Bonilla Arquitectos

The High School building completes the group of classroom-buildings; therefore it resumes the usual typology of the existing buildings, a central open space and peripheral classrooms. It’s also chosen to use brick walls, the prevailing material in the school. The particular variation consists in developing a sinuous atrium with an internal garden. The exterior is defined by two closed sides facing the large green extensions, and by two glass facades with vertical sun shields where the classrooms operate.

Flor del Campo in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia by Giancarlo Mazzanti + Felipe Mesa

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Article source: Giancarlo Mazzanti + Felipe Mesa

This project is characterized by four “Rings”, each of which is defined by two levels with different thicknesses, rounding different playgrounds. The perimeter is as important as the interior space formed by the rings, projecting physical areas that can express the function that will be developed. It was inspired by the shapes of tropical plants and trees in the area, taking us to a recreational atmosphere of games, educational exchanges, etc.
