Theater Pod Palmovkou in Prague, Czech Republic by DDAANN

Sunday, May 5th, 2019

Article source: DDAANN

Palmovka survived! Palmovka pulses…

After a big flooding in 2002, the theatre was affected by a second flooding in 2012. Even though the small Rokytka river did not cause as much damage as Vltava ten years earlier, the theatre had to be renovated all over again. The restoration of the technologies situated in the basement took more than two years. However, Palmovka has lived through all this and decided to refurbish the entrance spaces of the theatre including a box office, a café and a new façade.

Freedomek No.061 in Tachov, Czech Republic by ATELIER ŠTĚPÁN and FREEDOMKY s.r.o

Wednesday, April 17th, 2019

Article source: ATELIER ŠTĚPÁN and FREEDOMKY s.r.o

The “Sixty-one”, a home with the number Freedomky No.061, was assembled (to the surprise of neighbours) during one autumn Friday from 7 am to 3 pm, followed by the construction of the carport and terrace. It uses its compositional dimensions and sizes from the author’s previous modules and places them above each other, smaller S (4 x 7m) on top of larger M (4 x 11,5m). Modules were brought to the site fully furnished and equipped, including furniture. The Tachov “Sixty-one” stretches toward the sky and its proportions evoke a similarity with a stylized steamboat, also with the upper terrace – the deck at the fore. From becoming a real houseboat, it is only short of water it could anchor in. It is the very first 2-story Freedomek in the Czech Republic and has its own specially signed label from the author.

House J1 in Janov nad Nisou, Czech Republic by Cube.A

Monday, April 15th, 2019

Article source: Cube.A

The approach to the renovation of a traditional cottage in the Jizera Mountains was, from the very beginning, determined by the need to reconcile certain design requirements, the genius loci of a mountain village, and the investor’s contemporary lifestyle. The design was created around three determining elements: the shape and orientation of the building, situated on the boundary of the property; direct contact between the house and the street; and the lime tree growing in the yard, the tallest of its kind in the whole Jizera Mountains.

Hostivar H2 – Brewery with restaurant and bakery in Prague, Czech Republic by ADR

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019

Article source: ADR

The brewery is located at the periphery of a Prague residential area with a view of the adjacent golf course. It is in direct pedestrian relation to the railway station Praha – Horní Měcholupy. The Hostivar Brewery H2 is the younger brother of Hostivar Brewery 1 that lays about 1 km away.

The shape of the floor plan is influenced by the uneven shape of the parcel. The brewery’s facade had wooden cladding, replaced with black profiled sheet metal cladding. In key moments the facade is glass, opening the view into the restaurant or the brew house. The restaurant terrace is oriented into the garden where in summer we can find a small taproom and outdoor garden seating for the guests.

Casa Dolce Vita in Prague, Czech Republic by ATELIER MICHAL HAGARA

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019

Article source: ATELIER MICHAL HAGARA

The assignment for me as the designer and my studio – as the implementer, was as follows – Recreate a relatively new, medium sized maisonette apartment in Prague city centre for the needs and level of cosmopolitan couple, while I got almost unlimited freedom as the author. Inspired by modernism and the love of the Tugendhat villa in Brno, I drew the concept from just these sources – not as formal as ideologically rather. As the clients, constantly on the road, should use the flat as a point of contact and a haven, I had the pleasure to create it calmly and comfortably, with a spark of playfulness – what I was aiming for in a purely geometric scheme, simple to strict shapes and a noble material scale supported by uncompromising craftsmanship. The project originated as a Gesamtkunstwerk, a complete author craft – the same principle as the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe applied at the end of the 1920s just in designing the mentioned villa. All of the elements are related together, continuously follow each other or deliberately contrast.

Article source: Petr Stolín Architekt

The new Kindergarten – Nová Ruda in Vratislavice nad Nisou – solves the need of the city district regarding its growing population, by providing educational spaces and a leisure area for children.

The plot is the property of the city and was chosen as most suitable for the new housing development planned in the immediate vicinity and the new kindergarten. The site itself is still undeveloped and the larger part of the land is defined as public greenery. In the immediate vicinity there is a historic building, a secondary art school, and several patches of family houses, which as a whole, form a rather rural context.
