Familyhouse in Pardubice, Czech Republic by ZETTE ateliér sro

Sunday, February 24th, 2019

Article source: ZETTE ateliér sro

A lot situated inside the satellite area, surrounded by those “traditional” small houses. Those, whose investors wished something classical to fit well into the picture. A result? Typical village, anyway.  The true is such the village is reminded by several fragments of original housing and full-grown trees. The new thing is something as a computer game, where a player puts into a grid an American dream of individual living. There are flat country meadows around the village where horse mane waves now and then. This idyll for the people of Pardubice, named Spojil, is closed to separate micro-world by surrounding forests, which cover up well a presence of industrial town.

Sedlak’s House in Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Czech Republic by ZETTE ateliér sro

Friday, February 22nd, 2019

Article source: ZETTE ateliér sro

The parcel is situated on a hill in front of the Charles’s Crown castle which is remarkable inspiration itself. Two outstanding artists of the time was invited by Count František Ferdinand Kinský for the construction of the castle, the Czech architect of Italian origin Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel and the Prague architect František Maximilián Kanka. As a result a colorful baroque jewel with a central composition and an ideal location in the landscape was created. The castle becomes the main motif of the view from the living area and reflects in the final design of the house. In a way, the house is a paraphrase on the opposite chateau, a crown and a blooming blossom nevertheless with a preservation of a farmhouse character.

DHL Supply Chain Office in Jažlovice, Czech Republic by Studio VONT

Tuesday, February 19th, 2019

Article source: Studio VONT

The concept for the DHL Supply Chain offices was created through a unique cooperation between the client and the architectural studio VONT. The clear visual identity doesn‘t leave anyone guessing the nature of the field the DHL company works in, despite the absence of its corporate colours. The goal was to create a quality work space for top tier managers, an environment for creative atmosphere and in general a better work environment mainly in the sense of lighting and acoustics. The biggest quality of this space are the clean and neutral areas that let the independently standing pieces, linked to elements from the transportation industry, truly come forth. These exclusively designed details and solo pieces are present through-out the interior in forms like metal suspended ceilings above which there are installations and lights, to built-in wood and metal furniture that reminds one of transportation boxes, table legs from forklift skids, work desks tied with straps, dividers made of cardboard boxes and other components that are elementary for the clients´ DNA. An interesting accent comes in forms of unique art objects also inspired by the industrial field of logistics and transportation: the Shibari light by Kateřina Handlová (glass bulbs tied together by ropes), a lighting relief by sculptor Matěj Hájek (thin-profile concrete casting on a steel frame) and large format Bet Orten photographs (the author´s original technique of printing on sheet metal panes). And the result? The interior as a whole creates great potential for gatherings and encounters as well as teamwork.

Family house in Litvínovice, Czech Republic by Atelier 111 architekti s.r.o.

Sunday, February 17th, 2019

Article source: Atelier 111 architekti s.r.o.

The village of Litvínovice is located about 5 km south of the city České Budějovice in southern Bohemia. Typical urban sprawl substitutes the original street structure – the developed areas are established on the surrounding undeveloped meadows and fields. Thus, the context of the place is a typical imprint of the current mass approach to solving the housing needs through family houses in newly emerging suburban districts.

Atelier Prague in Czech Republic by ING. ARCH. JAN BEK

Tuesday, February 12th, 2019

Article source: ING. ARCH. JAN BEK

We were approached by the client from our previous cooperation. The request was to design a studio where the client could work in a pleasant environment, have visits and stay overnight if needed. The interior was suppose to have not only a representative function, but also a living function with all the facilities that belong to it. We have defined facilities and furniture suppliers at the very first meetings. Our decison was, in case it would possible, for Czech manufactures and designers, which both of us, me and the client are big admirers and fans.

The available space we had was two storey. It was accessible directly from the courtyard of an old Prague building. Since it was not a new building but a restoration, the area has offered us beautiful brick vaults in steel beams, the interestingly designed beam of the upper floor and much more. All these have sure helped us to define the direction of the design we will be following.

Schody Home Bar in Prague, Czech Republic by VRTIŠKA • ŽÁK

Monday, February 11th, 2019

Article source: VRTIŠKA • ŽÁK

Interior design of the family-owned company Schody Home Bar, focusing on the original historical features and the maximum preservation of contemporary details. In the house we discovered the original hexagonal pavement, which became the dominant feature of the whole area. We created a mosaic with the theme of baroque still life with food and drink. This motif then passes through all the space in the form of a floor, and in the places of the main mint, it also forms decoration in the lunette. The bar is orientated as home cooking. There is no natural barrier, but guests and staff stay on one side. It also includes a mobile element for easier handling and window sales.

Minimalist Apartment in Prague, Czech Republic by COLLARCH

Friday, February 8th, 2019

Article source: COLLARCH

The aim of the apartment’s overall reconstruction was to create a quiet and neutral background for the life of the young family, which would then occupy it according to its current needs and tastes. The task was to create an empty space where all the functions expected from the completed apartment are integrated into walls that define the space. Smart wiring, storage rooms and furniture systems to ensure the variability of the placement of individual elements in the apartment are discreetly embedded in a material & color balanced palette of surfaces with precise and minimalist detailing that can be matched by any color range or style of future owners.

Flat for Two in Znojmo, Czech Republic by ORA

Sunday, January 27th, 2019

Article source: ORA

We were approached by a pair of globetrotters on their second visit of Znojmo, the city where our studio is based.

After few days spent in Znojmo, they fell in love with the city so much they decided to buy there a small flat with a great atmosphere. The flat was considered rather second-rate; a ground floor apartment in the old town with its damp walls. However, it has a cosy inner courtyard and the place is pleasantly shadowy, which is a great advantage in the ever so heated up city centre.

Centre for Contemporary Art DOX+ in Prague, Czech Republic by Petr Hájek Architekti

Thursday, January 24th, 2019

Article source: Petr Hájek Architekti

The DOX+ complex of buildings expands the DOX Contemporary Art Centre in Prague, the Czech Republic. The original complex focusing on exhibition areas was expanded by special areas for dance, music, film and a school of architecture.

DOX+ consist of three buildings: administrative with the school of architecture, an experimental music and dance hall and a dance rehearsal room. The buildings are a single unit from the architectural aspect and this principle is symbolically expressed by the unified grey colour and fluid interconnection of all parts into one whole. As a result, the complex can be perceived as a single structured statue.
