Ryan Nelson a man born in Chicago USA, worked here and there, moved around the world, ended up in this little hole – the city of Liberec. City that is still not sure whether it´s more German or Czech.

He started modest business selling what he knew best. The business was too small to satisfy the great man´s ego. He found a space in 19th century building build as showroom for piano factory. In present owned by hard to talk Italian.  It was not cheap neither easy but he got the keys.

Czech Forestry Commission campus in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic by Chybik+Kristof Architects & Urban Designers

Friday, March 17th, 2017

Article source: Chybik+Kristof Architects & Urban Designers

A project designed by a team under the direction of the Brno based young architecture studio CHYBIK+KRISTOF has recently won the international competition for the new administrative centre of the Czech Forestry Commission in Hradec Králové. The winning proposal is a two-storey building on the edge of an existing forest, that uses wood extensively as construction material – as requested within the competition. The concept is based on  incorporating the forest landscape into a five-finger building to create new relations between the inside office and the outside forest landscape. A nature trail surrounding the building allows to explore the different forest ecotypes, designed by Tomas Babka and breathe.earth.collective.

Loft F5.04 in Prague, Czech Republic by Klára Valová / SMLXL studio

When the chance to buy an apartment in the former factory ETA Regula arose for its prospective owners, they did not hesitate for a minute. After a long search of an apartment offering both interesting and atypical elements, and located in central Prague, this proved to be an ideal choice. Time management was perfect, and the arrangement with the developer was that the apartment would be made over as shell and core, meeting only the most basic approval standards. The owners also addressed our studio ahead of time, providing us with enough time to think about the project in detail. As soon as the owners were handed the keys to the apartment, we were ready to begin with the change

Two bedroom loft apartment with central staircase and two bathrooms.

Create a colorful interior was the criteria set out from client for the architect. Large glass windows are dominant for the space and that was determining for the choice of the colors. Blue as a sky and yellow as a sun. You can see these colors vary in the apartment in all their range from their subdued version in the entrance lobby to the darker blue in the bedroom referring to the evening sky and the dark red for the sun as it meets the horizon.

Experimental Structure in Slavkov u Brna, Czech Republic by Fránek Architects

Wednesday, March 8th, 2017

Article source: BoysPlayNice

Experimental structure in Slavkov u Brna is one of several buildings by Zdeněk Fránek, that have been created in partnership with scientists. The task was to develop an innovation center for a family business. A structure that will operate solely on energy gained from natural resources and using water independently thanks to its natural water treatment system.

Architecture of the building presents dichotomous conception of space increasing its effect on a spectator through its duality.
