The site the community decided to develop for a kindergarten for 30 children is one of the nicest in the village. It is a vacant lot at the historical village green with a view to the river and a corresponding area for a garden.
There is a yellow cloud covering Semtín(a factory producing Semtex explosives) again. It stings a little on the nose, but it’s not worse than chopping fresh onions. I drive home every weekend. My parents are great. My dad makes the best breakfast in the world and the mom is the best unrivaled stew cook. We have a small but proud house behind a wooden fence. Instead of a garage we have a container where we store all life junk. Our garden is slowly growing up and it alredy cut us off from the last prying neighbors. The house is a place just right for our for me, my sister and our parents. Me and my sister have our bedrooms on the ground floor. They are more cells than rooms, but they have some huge windows and offer us close distance to the garden. The parents bedroom is upstairs. They have a calm and lovely views. Visits are quite common in our house. I love the feeling when we’re all together. Sweet smell of dad´s plum destillate permeates the house and onion goulash hisses on the stove again. This is how we live here.
The villa is situated on the northern edge of a southward sloping plot with an area of approx. 6,500 square meters. In the lower part of the plot there is a full-grown forest. The plot is part of a natural, long and gradually sloping land form – a gorge, sloping in the east-west axis in the direction of a nearby dam.
Few young architects under the age of 30 can boast of two completed commissions in their portfolios like Ondrej Chybik and Michal Kristof, the founders of Chybik+Kristof Associated Architects. Their first commission – a modular cafeteria for KOMA MODULAR in Vizovice – was completed in May 2014; the second – the Czech pavilion at EXPO 2015 in Milan – was inaugurated exactly a year later. Both designs draw on the simplicity of modernist architecture, creating dynamic spaces of high aesthetic value. Their buildings are innovative in terms of the introduction of new materials and their combinations into modular construction. While the Czech EXPO pavilion expectedly attracts media attention, it is rarely mentioned that it could never have been so successfully achieved without Chybik+Kristof AA’s previous experience with modular systems at Vizovice.
In the Czech Republic, the current trend is revitalizing embankments, bringing water and streams back to the fabric of cities under the motto ´River back to the People´. The project “Making the Vltava waterway navigable” thus played its role in initiating this effort; it supports and introduces life back to the water sheet and its surroundings – this is the natural associate part of the project.

The refurbishment of the wine cellar in Vrbovec was our first project. The builder is a wine grower and father of Barbora.
Final design is based on the sketch of the investor who was completely sure how the wine cellar should look like. We designed a new entrance hall with a small kitchen and toilet in the area where the old cabin used to be. We cleaned more than hundred years old underground part and kept it in its original state. The biggest change is new three meters wide skylight which brings sunlight down to the cellar. We recycled old vineyard posts (very similar was used on the borders with Austria during the Iron Curtain time) to build a new archive for bottles. The archive remains the vineyard.

Where?
The loft is a part of the former school building built at the end of nineteenth century. The house is located in small south-Moravian city named Mikulov well known because of its unique landscape and wine.

The interior design of the Customer Experience Center was created for the product presentation purposes to the Vodafone clients. The created platform allows the company’s clients to get a personalised and tailored tour which reflects their individual needs and provides them with a ‘know how’ portfolio of the telecomunication technology and services. The showroom area has a familiar feel but yet boasts the most advanced technologies which presents to customer wide range of services and products. This arrangement of space which leads into the customer’s tour firstly brings a relaxation zone from where the individual is intuitively lured pass the „organic walls“ towards the entrance welcome zone. The main part of the presentation occurs at the central – „Onenet“ object which leads from the back section via a narrow corridor and offer to every customer slow transition between the real world and the reality created by Vodafone. From there customers continue to another two, separated and differently shaped, parts where the tour comes to an end.
The history behind the emergence of this modest structure is highly unusual. We received a commission for a tower from the Prague 14 district government in an extensive future park. For it, we prepared three designs: one was a completely unusual construction from young logs, with which we had no previous experience, yet on the land in Horní Maxov, where our second atelier is located, there were several kilometres of them, and so we were naturally attracted to the idea of trying something with them out of pure interest in the penetration of nature into construction systems. To our great joy, but also our great surprise, precisely this tower was selected by Prague 14 for realisation. We said that first of all we needed to test this kind of structure, and so we created this artefakt. The word “artefakt” was used by us to keep it apart from the idea of a building. It is not a building, just a pure attempt, in which it was all about trying what this construction could do. Some might say that it looks a bit like a woman’s behind. A distant similarity could be seen. Yet the actual sense of the matter was to try out in all senses what a structure from young ash and maple logs could look like, how it could be put together, what structural qualities it has. It’s a preparation for the construction of the tower.
