Retoños House in Quito, Ecuador by ESEcolectivo

Thursday, November 24th, 2016

Article source: ESEcolectivo

The Retoños house belongs to a large extended family made up of several smaller families. The clients, Alvaro and María, wanted a house in which to bring together their 16 family members, including children and grandchildren. As a close-knit family, they get together very often. Until now, this took place in a small apartment in Quito, so they were looking for a quieter place far from the noise and drab environment of the city.

CAPABILITY TO RESPOND

During the emergency process for commissioning new Courthouses, as part of the restructuring of the Judicial System defined by the National Government of Ecuador, the consulting company Hospiplan is invited to participate in the design of new buildings that would ¨guarantee all citizens an opportune, efficient and quality access to justice¨. This emergency commissioning implied the radical reduction of time allocated for the development of the projects, and a necessary reorganization of the processes normally followed.

CULUNCO HOUSE in Quito, Ecuador by AL BORDE

Saturday, April 16th, 2016

Article source: AL BORDE

Culunco is the name given to the paths situated in the middle of a dense vegetation, generally paths that were created for ancient villages of Latin America, like those of the Incas. This is as well the name that the architects from Al Borde chose for an excavated house in the middle of a sloping ground, surrounded by earth and trees in the Valley of Tumbaco, in Quito. The original project was composed of two houses, one of which was finally built, constructed with local materials.

Roof over the Walls of the Old Baños Church in Ecuador by BROWNMENESES

Tuesday, April 7th, 2015

Article source: BROWNMENESES

BACKGROUND

In response to the need to recover Ecuador’s sites listed as cultural heritage, our professional services were hired by the Coordinating Ministry for Heritage and Culture in order to create an architectural design for a roof for the old church of the city of Baños. These sites constitute a key factor for local and regional development, as well as for that of the country in general.

The old church in Baños is located next to the current Municipality and dates from 1788. It was renovated after the earthquake of 1797, but it was finally reduced to ruins by another earthquake in 1949.
