A rebuild kindergarten project in Matsuyama, Ehime.
Recently cars are daily necessities in provincial city and it gets more common children go to kindergarten by bus or car. So they have less chances to take exercises in daily life. An increasing number of children play with video games inside so that they also have less chances to find plays in variegated nature environment by themselves. In these situations, KO Kindergarten is rebuilt with the concept “Make Health from Playing”
This House is built in a ravine a little uphill from the coastline to the mountains and sandwiched between the mountains and mountains.
This plan is a step by the existing stone cliff. In the basement floor using this step, the garage and the study space are planned, and the living space is planned on the first floor.
The living room on the first floor is continuous with the deck terrace on the sea side, and can enjoy the environment in an open space.
The site had a depth in the north and south when viewed from the road side, buildings were built on both sides, basically it was like a closed dead end. On the other hand, when looking out from the inside of the site, there was a lot of sight and light from the urbanization adjustment area spreading along the south road. Coupled with the slight difference in height between the site and the road, I felt a sense that the mountain ranges from the near view field to the far side Iyo mountains are strongly connected to the ground.
It is a compact site located at the most innermost place of the new subdivision. Despite this compact site, dare not to build a building on full of the site, securing lighting and ventilation by securing a private open space on the south, making connection with the external space. In addition, we planned to be a rich approach even on a small site by keeping it low relative to the road and placing it in a deep eaves below the entrance.
The house is located in the suburbs of Matsuyama, a northwestern city of Shikoku, a region famous for ohenro, or the Shikoku pilgrimage. The structure is very long and narrow, extending north to south.
It is the home of a gregarious and energetic elderly mother and her daughter who values the practice of cooking meals slowly and intentionally, along with two cautious cats.
We planned the house for a client family (married couple and their two children) at the site whose shape is like a flagstaff and surrounded by neighbor’s house in Imabari-City Ehime.
