This two-family house is located in Orsara di Puglia (southItaly), in a hill slope called Piano Paradiso.
The house is composed by an underground level, designed as garage, a groundfloor and an attic.
The main feature of this project is the roof, indeed it is modelled by the combination of three different skillion roofs with opposite orientation: two pointed towards the town centre and one oriented to the mountains. The entrance is placed on one side, connected with a minor street running along the slope.
The project for this small detached house at Orsara di Puglia, is the outcome of a close collaboration between client and architect (lengthy discussion between brothers, to be precise). It is a very simple volume: a white cube measuring 10 meters on each side, excavated, squared, geometrical, apparently abstract, but actually similar to many buildings in the countryside of Foggia. A simple elementary volume, in contrast to the complex and highly articulated surrounding houses.
Constructors: Curcio Domenico, Orsara di Puglia (building construction), Di Leo Marmi, Trani (stone covering), Arrediltortora, San Severo (shutters and wood carving)
The project concerns two small buildings situated in an irregular shape lot, near the old town of Orsara di Puglia, in a street characterized by different typologies of buildings.
The new buildings completed the block by filling the gap between the fronts on the two streets, left uncovered an internal area to brought light inside the two buildings and related them to each other. It is possible to divide the front of both houses in three elements: a basement made of brushed Apricena stone, a surface completely covered with oak boards, containing the entrances, and a white wall, without windows, for the front on Via Trento, while on Via Cadorna there are two balconies in stainless steel.
