Golden Cube in Billancourt, France by Hamonic+Masson & Associés architectes

Sunday, May 15th, 2016

Article source: Hamonic+Masson & Associés architectes

The guiding principles of these student halls of residence were standardisation, self-regulation and a maximisation of internal space. This project, with its 156 rooms in an 8-storey building taking up almost the entire plot, is no exception to this rule. There is nonetheless a secret garden, as the project coordinators, Loci Anima, were keen to reintroduce some biodiversity onto the island.

Wednesday, May 4th, 2016

Article source: Christophe Hutin Architecture

The exceptional and particularly innovative conditions of living given by the « Hauts plateaux » project, phases 1&2, makes it « primum inter pares » and give a clear and new proposal for the housing issue. This project means to create new conditions of living, in which one can find on one hand the desire to live in collective and comfortable housing and on the second hand the necessity of intimacy. It gives the qualities and the liberties of an individual house in collective structure, inside an urban agglomeration. This project carries the idea of the evolution of life of the people, it aims to offer pleasure of living. In this sense, it is sustainable.

JC CARRIERE THEATER in Montpellier, France by A+Architecture

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

Article source: A+Architecture

The Domaine of O, departmental domain of art and culture, is an exceptional place that combines history and modernity, nature and culture. Before anything else it is a place shaped by History that maintains its finery to the South of the site, its beautiful flowerbeds and its original plant species, a testimony of history, that of the famous “folies héraultaises”. At no point was it about contemplating a glorious past, keeping it and simply fixing it. On the contrary we envisionned a place turned towards the future, and what better way to testify our confidence in the future than building a cultural facility of this kind?

Living under the roof in Lvry-sur-Seine, France by Prisca Pellerin Architecture & Intérieur

Sunday, May 1st, 2016

Article source: Prisca Pellerin Architecture & Intérieur

Presentation

This project is a complete renovation of an apartment 2-room attic. To enhance the quality of light of that “cocoon” housing, the bias has been to open up the spaces (decompartmentalisation, amplified perspectives, transparency of Parisian artist window frame… ) and playing on different shades of white and grey, specially thanks to different textures : glossy lacquer, matt and satin paint, polished concrete, leather and suede, linen, brick , white wood stain…

Nursery School Extension in Mantes-la-Ville, France by GRAAL ARCHITECTURE

Friday, April 29th, 2016

Article source: GRAAL ARCHITECTURE

The design for the extension of the Alliés de Chavannes nursery school draws on its context within the landscape and its integration within the site. The three new volumes that house the extension connect to the longitudinal circulation of the existing building in such a way as to allow them to be perceived as separate pavilions. The existing building is reconfigured to become the school’s spine. Distinguished by two types of metal cladding – galvanized steel and anthracite zinc – the new volumes provide a visible distinction between the original building and its extension. The new volumes are organized to ensure fluidity and a programmatic organization in harmony with the existing functioning of the school, logically inserted between the trees and providing views of the surrounding vegetation. Elevated on steel stilts and with facade openings offering each space a variety of orientations, the extensions allow pupils to imagine that their school is a tree house!
