The territory of the Zac Clichy-Batignolles was conquered on the railway lines of the Gare Saint-Lazare, transforming it into a new neighborhood around the Martin-Luther-King Park and the future TGI.
Located in the Var, in the town of La Londe-les-Maures, looking out to Fort de Brégançon and the Mediterranean Sea, the small 350m² building is reigniting the redevelopment of the port.
After having completed the Rennes crematorium, Plan 01 has continued to discuss a project which involves the architect in the most sensitive and rich areas of the architectural process.
These are areas which help convey the ethical meaning of discipline.
The project consists of two volumes, one on top of the other. An oblique section of the façade gives the project a kinetic aspect when approached from Avenue Secrétan.
The project deals about the rehabilitation of an old flour-mill and an industrial building in lofts along the canal of Roubaix. The structure was in very bad shape, and is now open to let the natural light enlighten the flats.
archi5 was founded in 2003, the fruit of its founders’ common agency experience and the approach they share to architecture.
A context-based approach to projects is key: the site, the programme, the social and cultural challenges are all examined, nalyzed and compared. These data are then transformed into questions.
The building located in Lyon is a residence for researchers and programming of the consultation (won in 2010) clarified the role that he must have identification in the Gerland district undergoing urban transformation.
“Bayonne Marinadour is the first intervention to be completed in a complex of actions marking the new entrance to the city of Bayonne. The other elements are a park produced by remodelling the approach road to Henri Grenet Bridge and, overlooking it, the built complex of Rivadour.
The project takes the form of an urban micro-operation aiming to link a park, that had been isolated until now, and a boulevard running through to the town centre. This has resulted in a pathway being created in the middle of the plot to better make use of its heart and to define an unusual landscape. To either side of this axis, two quite different housing typologies have been built: to the north, a two storey building crossing through the site and, to the south, a series of interleaved houses. Each housing unit is extended by a vast outdoor space positioned either next to the entrance or to the rear of the unit. The most symbolic, being that of the main building, is constructed from a double latticework envelope and, extending the living room, creates an additional space of around 20 m².
The project forms part of the reforms to the judicial map and aims to join together the activities of two courts in a single setting. Apart from having to restructure the offices, there was also a need to resolve the following dilemma: how to increase the reception areas for the public while remaining within the existing physical envelope? This was achieved by a clever interweaving of the various programmes, resulting in the concourse being enlarged by 50% and given an outdoor extension thanks to an esplanade linked to the public space. This device resolves the organisational problems at the same time as creating a new symbolic relationship between the public and the institution.
