LAVA unveiled new visuals of the interiors and showcased a mock up of rooms at the official construction and groundbreaking ceremony.
“International, innovative and integral” is how the Bavarian Youth Hostel Association describes their new 3,400 sq m facility for active and sports guests. The 180–‐bed Youth Hostel will be the first to be fully integrative, especially equipped for disabled guests and employees. Rooms, grounds and sports fields will be all wheelchair accessible.

Sonnenhof consists of four new buildings with office and residential spaces. Located on a consolidated number of smaller lots in the historical center of Jena, Germany, the separate structures allow for free access through the grounds. Their placement on the outer edges of the plot defines a small-scale outdoor space congruent with the medieval city structure. Its outdoor facilities continue the building’s overall design concept past the edges of the lot. The planned incorporation of commerce, residence, and office enables a flexible pattern of use that also integrates itself conceptually into the surroundings.
Located at the entrance of the industrial wasteland of the former VAW aluminum plants FORMSTELLE, Kantine and NETZWERK are creating an interdisciplinary, campus called NETWORK/NETZWERK – thus providing‚ evidence of a successful structural transformation from heavy industry towards the use by architects, engineers and designers. The floating, single-storey pavilion, placed under huge ancient trees, shows an altered handling of the material aluminum in an industrial region undergoing transition.
Located in the urban outskirts of Munich, the detached single-family house B built in timber frame construction was completed after only six months of construction. On the small plot the maximal possible cubature and the existing parameters have been used in an optimal way. The building follows line of the houses in the street and thus continues the urban edge along the link road. The front garden area next to the street is thereby supported and the roof orientation of the surrounding buildings continued.
In planning the Olaya Metro Station, Gerber Architekten are currently working on the most important infrastructure project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Following the competition win in 2012, excavation work has now begun. The groundbreaking ceremony was celebrated on the 3rd of April 2014 in the presence of the Governor of Riyadh at that time, Prince Khalid bin Bandar. Now, the BACS Consortium comprised of Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company, Almabani, Consolidated Contractors Company and Siemens opened up the way for the next planning phase to commence and commissioned Professor Gerber and his team Gerber Architekten under the direction of Thomas Lücking in cooperation with BuroHappold Engineering with further planning for this major project. The planning work for the station should be completed in the next 18 months.

June 20th, 2015 marked the opening of the KA300 Pavilion in Karlsruhe, designed by J. MAYER H. und Partner, Architekten. To celebrate the three-hundred year anniversary of the founding of the city of Karlsruhe, this temporary event pavilion was erected in the city’s Schlossgarten. During the festival summer, various concerts, theatre performances, readings, film screenings, and exhibitions will be held in the open structure.
The strict building regulations reduced the design margins. From these requirements, the architects developed a three dimensional structure that stands out for its sculptural character. The starting point was the clear shape of a cube whose edges follow the building lines and the instructions to the roof design. As with a sculptural work the corners are cut out creating differently proportioned indoor and outdoor spaces. The living area is placed on the top floor, a flowing space that narrows and widens or opens into a corner. Built-in furniture divide the smooth transitions between the different residential areas. The deep cut terraces offer either private or through openable glazing, rubbing shoulders with the city and adjoining vineyard. The strict building regulations reduced the design margins. The former store for antique luminaires im Munich‘s Alt-Schwabing district provided an ideal L-shaped ground plan for the workplaces and other areas of the new studio. All main technical features, such as print/copy, large-format printer, coffee, server, etc. are hidden behind a new space divider, which also houses the product library, and consumable supplies. With this divider, a generous space between divider and the shop windows has been created for meetings and presentations. Thanks to the digitalization of the working process and archives, the size of the studio remained the same as before. However, 5 desks have been reduced in size. A 8 m long shelve unit provides space to work and store, below a pinboard with the same length. At the former studio site out of town PLD is still equipped with a lavish archive and further space for testing, mock-ups, and models.
The Lux11 Hotel and Residence in Berlin, owned by the Chambers group, is the first completed project by the creative duo 1+1=1 Claudio Silvestrin Giuliana Salmaso architects.
The complex is comprensive of 72 serviced apartments.
