Motril Footbridge in Granada, Spain by Guijón Arquitectura

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Article source: Guijón Arquitectura

The proposal meets the pedestrian continuity between the gardens of the Explanadas and the Park Pueblos de las Américas, bridging the difference in height between these two areas and freeing the passage of the Avenue Virgen de la Cabeza, main entrance city traffic.

Article source: Alberto Campo Baeza

We would like to make “the most beautiful building” for the Museo de al Memoria de Andalucía (Andalusia’s Museum of Memory) in Granada. The MA. A museum that wishes to transmit the entire history of Andalusia. As early as Roman times, Strabo described the inhabitants of Andalusia as “the most cultivated of the Iberians, who have laws in verse.”

Water Museum in Granada, Spain by Juan Domingo Santos

Renovations in an old watermill, Lanjarón, Granada

The Lanjarón municipality is on the southern flank of Sierra Nevada. It is famous for its crafts, its honey and the quality of its medicinal water, including one of Spain’s most famous spas. The museum project began with a search for a site favoured by the presence of the water in natural conditions. The chosen area is at the entrance to the Sierra Nevada Regional Park, alongside the Lanjarón River and an irrigation ditch that runs around several old buildings that were formerly the municipal abattoir. The museum is installed in on this site to safeguard the natural environment from property speculation with the design of a pedestrian itinerary that connects the new activity with the water infrastructure and several examples of traditional architecture, including watermills and an old public laundry.

Belén Street Studio in Granada, Spain by Elisa Valero Ramos

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Article source: Elisa Valero Ramos

Building a place for oneself is an opportunity with its own risks and difficulties. I chose a place in one of Granada’s earliest areas, the neighborhood of El Realejo enar Campo del Príncipe, on a site favored by views of the west side of the Alhambra, presided over by the Manuel de Falla Auditorium and the country house and garden of the Martyrs. Further back, behind the cedars, chestnuts, magnolias and palm trees in the gardens of the little hotels in Belén stands the Sierra Nevada mountain range. This lot would have been rejected by many because its tiny size precludes a conventional distribution. Only 3.60 meters deep and ten meters wide, this work is an exercise in minimums, a laboratory of light and construction intended for living.
