Yanakacho House in Gunma, Japan by Taiga Kasai + Chong Aehyang Architecture/ KACH

Friday, April 8th, 2022

Article source: Taiga Kasai + Chong Aehyang Architecture/ KACH

The private house for the family of four which is located in residential area in Japan.

We create a generous outline by erecting an translucent polycarbonate enclosure along the property to separate it from the surrounding areas and making it float in the air. The floating enclose creates separation, but since it floats, the house itself is still connected to the surrounding environment.

Article source: aat+makoto yokomizo architects

Located in a mountain village beside a man-made lake two and a half hours’ drive north of Tokyo, the Tomihiro Museum is dedicated to the work of local poet-illustrator Tomihiro Hoshino.  Since 1991, when the Museum first opened on the refurbished premises of a disused home for the elderly, an average of more than 1000 persons a day have made the trip here, for a ten-year total of over 4 million visitors—a surprising number considering the remote location.

Static Quarry in Gunma, Japan by Ikimono Architects

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Article source: Takashi Fujino / Ikimono Architects

The neighbor is one of the environments, too

I intended to make a building like the small city.
Originally, a human being is a creature living in the crowd. Nevertheless it is said that most family types are single life households in present Japan. The person keeps the balance while going back and forth in a personal domain like the house and the state of the crowd like the society. Can the apartment \there is society in the immediate neighbor of a personal domain\ become city life in microcosm?

House of Seven Gardens in Gunma, Japan by Ikimono Architects

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Article source: Takashi Fujino / Ikimono Architects

It is a house where three small boys live with young Mr. and Mrs..

They pursued a protected house of the privacy in the large vacant land of the downtown, so we suggested the house with an inner court of the one-storied house. The domain surrounded in a wall is divided in the room of big things and small things 17(11:outside,6:inside). They are connected and are sharp. The house is a domain of the families and it is a personal domain with it. The building will be related how for the heap of the family.

Hirozakari Sake Brewery in Gunma, Japan by Tyrant Kunihiko Matsuba designed using Vectorworks

Article source: Tyrant Kunihiko Matsuba

A glass of water with a single drop of ink:

Neither purely transparent water nor visibly colored water; colored water in the strict sense of the term, which nevertheless has no color that can be perceived by human vision; neither 0 nor 100; somewhere between 0.1 and 1, and infinitesimally close to zero—our design policy may be described as such.

Kyoai Gakuen University in Gunma, Japan by BAKOKO

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Article source: BAKOKO

Kyoai Gakuen University sought proposals for a new building on part of the campus’ recreation grounds. Our design response was to not to build over this existing amenity space, but to lift it to a higher level, supported by the building underneath. The site is also located adjacent to the school’s sports field which currently lacks spectator seating. By sloping the roof in this direction, the proposal could provide additional value by providing seating for sports events.
