Article source: ‘Snow AIDe

Guryongpo is a place, which has the legend of falling a dragon out of ten dragons arise from the sea to sky. Since it has rich fishery resources such as whales, crabs, and squids, it became a harbor to plunder under the Japanese colonial era. Japanese House street, where it was made at that time, still exists. One side of Guryongpo harbor is crowded with many small restaurant and pubs but on the other side, relax space such as Ara square is mixed.

The client had run a small restaurant in front of the breakwater since she married 30 years ago. Now, she wanted to make that spot into a small hotel, where is the place to watch the sea. Because of being possessed by that sea view, we stared design under the small budget. We imagined a hideaway place to do nothing but watch the sea view. Not so much design is needed the site, where adjoin the sea. We tried to make a place to feel the sea and listen to the sound of the wave without any artificial obstacles except a single glass.

Art Pavilion in Saya Park

There are projects that are born both out of their site and for it.

There are projects that create the site for themselves.

The Art Pavilion modified the hill site and also adapted itself to it. And we all also, adapted ourselves to the beauty of this project.

Friday, February 3rd, 2017

Article source: The Beck Group

Joyful Church chose The Beck Group to create a new facility for the church’s growing, vibrant worship and education programs on Sundays and for the church’s many social welfare ministries during the week. The church’s vision was to have a design that expressed a strong symbolic Christian message, but that also used traditional Korean symbols in a fusion of architecture, faith and culture. The location was a 10-acre site in a new town development area of Pohang. This site had many development challenges included steep, wooded hillsides and strict zoning limitations.

Hanok Garden in Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea by Y Design Office

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

Article source: Y Design Office

Hanok Garden, a landscape project in South Korea byY Design Office, strips one of the older Korean traditional courtyard houses into its barebones with a small deck for resting. The old house is simply turned into a public garden. More is taken away than what gets added. The project asks and challenges the very basic questions about a person, a house, a city and a tree.
