Bean Buro has poetically created a series of 240sqft (22.2sqm) micro apartments in Kwai Chung Hong Kong as part of a residential development roll out.
Inspired by the surrealist painter Edward Hopper, the effect is a transitory space that simultaneously reflects the external dynamic lifestyles of Hong Kong urban dwellers while creating a calm internal environment. The aim was to create a space for one to reflect inner life and feelings by being able to personalise the space with sentimental person objects. Similar to Hopper’s famous painting Rooms by the Sea, Bean Buro’s canvas paintings depicts natural sunlight captured and the internal space is more an evocative metaphor of silence and solitude than the transcription of an actual scene.
Bean Buro has gutted the internal walls of the three bedrooms apartment of approximately 2,000sqft to transform a dark corridor layout into a light filled open space. The project is located in Cape Mansions Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong.
MVRDV have opened the 133 Wai Yip Street in Hong Kong. An office transformation, with retail and restaurants, which strips an old industrial building down to its bare bones and uses only glass with stainless steel infill to build up the interior spaces. The 18.000m2 project, located on the Kwun Tong waterfront is part of a larger urban development scheme which aims to turn the post-industrial district of East Kowloon into Hong Kong’s new central business district (named CBD2). An entirely see-through office stands as an example to the goals of the project to give ultimate transparency within the workplace. The project was commissioned in 2013 by project developer GAW Capital and now stands as one of the flagship projects for the new business development, becoming the bridge between the neighbourhood’s industrial roots and it’s metropolitan future.
The H | Residence project is located in an up and coming neighborhood on Hong Kong Island. Though very much shaped by high-rise buildings of the last three decades, the area has still a decent amount of old walk up buildings, revealing the richness of the city’s urban history. The neighborhoods texture consists of many layers of numerous patterns, colors and materials. The result is a vibrant and intense atmosphere, lively and contrasting, yet at times busy and overwhelming.
Casa Bosques is indeed the ‘house in the forest’. The driveway immediately sets the tone with the forest canopy unfolding as one approaches. These mature trees are the principal feature to which every living space, both indoors and out, refer to. It is the ever-present greenness that makes Casa Bosques special.
