The new Nancy and Rich Kinder Museum Building is characterized by porosity, opening the ground floor at all elevations. Seven gardens slice the perimeter, marking points of entry and punctuating the elevations. The largest garden court, at the corner of Bissonnet and Main Street, marks a central entry point on the new Museum of Fine Arts, Houston campus. When standing in the new entrance lobby of the Kinder Building, one can see gardens and lush Houston vegetation in four directions and feel the inviting energy of a new sense of openness to the community.

Located at 6008 Memorial, Houston, Texas. This project is the transformation of a 2003 post-modern style residence, into an updated modern/contemporary home. The homeowners did not want to tear it down and start over, so it was up to us to bring it up to date. Key design elements are a total exterior face-lift, opening up the interior public space, adding a new modern staircase and fireplace, total renovation of the kitchen area, adding a new awesome walk-in wine refrigerator, updating the master suite, and all of the bathrooms, completely redesigning of the 2nd floor spaces, and creating an awesome backyard outdoor area – with pool, kitchen, etc… This house was featured on the 2017 Houston Modern Home tour!

Houston Library and Exhibition Complex in Texas by MA2

Wednesday, January 27th, 2016

Article source: MA2

The Houston Library and Exhibition Complex is the second installment in the initiation of dynamic architectural proposals for Houston, Texas and the greater development of ideas for American cities. The design functions along multiple trajectories of display corridors and library storage to interpolate exhibition with an expanded book collection for international reading and research. By having a series of harmonic manifolds of book collection space and the mixing of programmatic function for exhibition, it generates a dynamical system of flowing conditions which manifests with moments of extrapolation within the tectonic massing and circulation. Within the radiating tectonic corridors there is also included smaller botanical gardens which resonates with the surrounding landscape development as well, serving the community with a robust flower display and plaza.
