SPAR Flagshipstore in Budapest, Hungary by LAB5 Architects

Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

Article source: LAB5 Architects

SPAR decided to open its new supermarket at a shopping mall called MOM Park, situated in the heart of a wealthy district of Budapest. They had the idea of building up a unique interior, which provides a high quality costumer experience. To chose the designer of this flagship store, they invited architects and interior designers to take part in a non-open competition, and submit sketches of ideas. LAB5 architects won because of the look and feel of a market space, with a friendly industrial atmosphere. Luckily later 90% of the original ideas could have been realised.

Our customer wanted to build a one-storey family house with attic on a currently built-up corner lot in Dunakeszi, a suburban residential area situated on the bank of the Danube.

At the time of design, the lot was already built-up with a high pitched roof brick building and a wooden frame outbuilding on it. These buildings were demolished.

Bishops resting pavilion in Veszprém, Hungary by Veszprémi Építész Műhely

Tuesday, July 9th, 2013

Article source: Veszprémi Építész Műhely

The Bishops resting pavilion is situated in the most beautiful area of Veszprém. The neoclassical two-storey pavilion was built by Bishop Joseph Kopácsy in 1820. The new owner would like to operated the building as a cafe. Our task was to renovate and expand the old pavilion, which was in degraded condition. It was important to link the semi-basement and ground floor space.

BEM PALACE in Budapest, Hungary by T2.a ARCHITECTS

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013

Article source:  T2.a ARCHITECTS

On the plot facing the Danube in central Budapest stands a house erected in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in 1897, originally a barrack. At the outburst of the 1956 Revolution the main demonstration took place on the square, in front of the building – making the facade an icon of the revolt, and part of our common recollection – therefore it become a partly scheduled monument. Later on the house served as a political party’s hall, school, restaurant, office building & fitness centre among others.
