The hotel was built in this natural landscape, pure and independent in its all-white architecture. Because the building is located on a hillside, shen mo, the designer, takes measures according to local conditions, laying out a stepped walkway leading to a high place, where you need to pass through a “box” to enter the house, greet guests with a sense of ceremony, and ascend the steps to the destination.
To surrounding environment using acme, designers use large area be born glass to make the natural landscape and space out of the window, the whole building is like a space open to nature, to satisfy the people are yearning for natural and pure, in such a minimalist space, feel the time rest, enjoy the beautiful artistic conception.
Putting aside the traditional concept of traditional homestays, the host hopes that the homestay can meet the needs of swimming pools, bars, and art spaces. Due to the limitations of the original space, the designers Shen Mo and Zhang Jianyong analyzed the plan and decided to demolish the whole building and reconstruct a new modern building.
The concept of “a tree in the water” was interpreted and reorganized to allow the building to grow freely like a tree and full of vitality in response to the beautiful scenery of Mogan Mountain. The choice of materials and the way of interspersing the structure make the building pure and independent in the environment, eliminating the impact of the surrounding environment.
ANADU is a luxury rural resort located atthe northern foot of the Mogan Mountain in Huzhou (Zhejiang province), with atotal extension of 30000m2. The mountain is part of the Moganshan NationalPark, which is just 60km distance from Hangzhou, and 200km from Shanghai.
Moganshan’s characteristic vegetation isformed by lush bamboo forest and tea fields: one can findthat country lifestyle is still well kept there. Its architecture is a mix oflocal inns and old villas dated from the beginning of the 20th century, and avariety of scenic and historical spots add anthropological value to the location. All these factors turn Moganshan into an attractive destination for bothChinese and foreign travellers seeking a more relaxed and nature orientated holiday.
Nestled in the mountains of Moganshan, Cloud Hotel sits serenely in a bamboo forest in Deqing County, a popular retreat destination 200km away from Shanghai. The original building had three levels built along the mountain slope and carried features inspired by European castles. STUDIO8 was commissioned to renovate the architecture and interiors and redesign the visual identity.
In the renovation process, STUDIO8 aimed to best utilize the natural slope formed by the landscape, while taking full advantage of the spectacular mountain views. The designers were also faced with a challenge to create a dynamic integration of the spatial experience and the “Cloud” brand image, and to infuse it into all design decisions. “Architecture built in nature functions as the media in between humans and nature; it should blend into the landscape organically, instead of just being in it,” says the studio principal.
