LAHO House in Hofit, Israel by Brahma-Architects

Tuesday, July 19th, 2016

Article source: Brahma-Architects

At the onset of this project, when we asked the clients what type of house they were interested in, they replied “a simple house, like a lifeguard tower”.

We designed a one story house spread across a corner lot. Two layers of exposed concrete comprise floor and ceiling with white stucco walls enveloping the house. Sliding the upper plane forward allowed for light penetration at the core of the house as well as air circulation. Between the two layers lies a rectangular tube, separating while connecting inside form out. This unique space houses an entry corridor and art studio.

Wednesday, July 13th, 2016

Article source: Gottesman Szmeclman Architecture

Situated on an extremely narrow site with eucalyptus trees along its southern & eastern edge, Gottesman-Szmelcman Architecture’s design of the Faculties of Psychology & Economics Building at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) reflects several key considerations: a commitment to “green” architecture; a desire to create clear and dynamic relationships between architecture and its surrounding; and a commitment to effectively and harmoniously incorporate carefully defined functions within each building.

Cinema Jerusalem in Israel by Shaul Kaner Architects

Tuesday, June 28th, 2016

Article source: Shaul Kaner Architects

This cinema complex was designed and built in an existing parking building. Located in the city of Jerusalem, The process of the design met different types of challenges. The first challenge was to design a complex that was located near the supreme court of justice and the government official buildings. Planning the complex, which represent entertainment and leisure activities, within a governmental neighborhood was a big challenge. The second challenge was to implement the project with the limitation of an existing structural building. The commercial space level was designed on the roof of the building, and all the cinema rooms were designed under the street level, however in a spacious and dramatic way incorporating large spaces and different colors. There are 15 cinema halls in the projects.

What happens at the junction of a design rich aesthetic from the 50s through the 70s and the “cleanliness” of current design? When  minimalist utilitarian carpentry meets crafted objects and Oriental inspiration? What sparks when urbanity and nature loving coalesced? This intersection of worlds is found in the newly designed  Nahalat Yitzhak apartment in Tel Aviv.

House in Ramat Gan, Israel by Ella Sahar Architecture & Interior Design

Tuesday, June 28th, 2016

Article source: Ella Sahar Architecture & Interior Design

In the cube-shaped family home there is a striking interplay between open and closed spaces, the private and public domain, and light and darkness. The origin of this harmonious duality lies in the starting point of the planning process – the cube. Structurally, the cube is closed and confined; but when fused with other cubes, a new, dynamic shape emerges.
