Cafe with Books HoCoTo in Kobe, Japan by tai_tai STUDIO

Friday, July 20th, 2018

Article source: tai_tai STUDIO

This cafe is located in Higashinada_ku, Kobe City, Japan.

It seems that it used to be a candle shop in the past.

It remained vacant for several years after this store withdrew.

The former director of the library and the young lady of a bread milling company had found the place.

Naturally, they were thinking of making coffee, books and toast into a coffee shop.

Kinton Ramen in Tokyo, Japan by MODERAGE INC.

Thursday, July 12th, 2018

Article source: MODERAGE INC.

It is the second store in the Asian region opened in Sangenjaya, Tokyo. KINTON RAMEN is a ramen bar that has 10 stores in Toronto and Montreal, Canada and one in Seoul, Korea. This store located in a back of blind alley that entered about 30 meters from a busy road. How to guide customers to the store was designed as a first priority issue. Then there is a vacant space of 1000 mm in depth from alley to store front, and it was possible to use it freely. We installed a large canopy and illuminating the eaves a lot of brightly. Thereby I tried to change to area brightly and safety, from an alley had dark impression. The canopy expresses the identity of the ramen store originated in Canada by making it a distinctive design in North American building. The line light of the eaves extend from outside directry to the kitchen. Because, people notice to watch making ramen dynamic. We designed industry style in North America (duct air conditioning, reclaimed ceiling, mortar etc),mixed Japanese ZEN.I try to design an original ramen bar evenno in Japan. I’m now try to built on this.

House with Panoramic Ocean View in Uruma, Japan by CLAIR archi lab Co.,ltd.

Wednesday, July 11th, 2018

Article source: CLAIR archi lab Co.,ltd.

On the east side of Uruma-city, Okinawa, Japan, the site is situated on the hill which is 500m away from the ocean. Panoramic ocean view can be seen on the east side of the site. When standing at the site, I conceived that I had to create an architecture optimizing the beautiful location overlooking the sea. To take advantage of the panoramic view, I planned to place large openings as much as possible on the east side of the house, while minimizing the openings on the south side of the house connected to the road. In addition, I planned to install the long walls extended in east-west direction in the parallel with the sea, so as to over look the sea anywhere inside of the house. By the long walls, we clearly divide the house into three spaces which are the entrance, public and private spaces. These three spaces are positioned in parallel from the front side toward the back side of the site. The extra length of the walls makes it possible to enjoy the beautiful ocean from respective spaces of the house, while preventing any obstacle from coming into sight.

Article source: nendo

“key to style” is the women’s fashion floor within the main building of the Seibu Shibuya department store. It is connected by a walk-way with the “COMPOLUX” floor on the third floor of the annex building that we designed in 2013, and has a more casual feel by targeting the young customer.

Balcony House in Tokyo, Japan by TAKESHI HOSAKA architects

Thursday, July 5th, 2018

Creating an interior-exterior dialogue

A balcony has a free existence, even inside a house. With neither its function nor its user specified, it can be used in multiple ways; for example, it does not matter if it gets dirty from exposure to the weather. It brings residents relief and offers them relaxation, as well as enjoyment. While a balcony has an elegant presence, it is also solid. It is a presence that tends to be forgotten, but it is unforgettable. A balcony.
