Beton House in Katowice, Poland by Betonhouse | Design

Wednesday, April 29th, 2020

Minimalism in a concrete version. Implementation of the project is the fulfillment of our dreams. We have designed the house to take full advantage of the southern side of the plot. Large glazing, sliding windows allow us to constantly interact with the surrounding nature.

In front of the south glass façade we have designed a large “reflex” – a shallow water reservoir, which has the task of reflecting light rays into the interior of the house, which, dancing on the ceiling, create an extraordinary atmosphere.

Unikato in Katowice, Poland by KWK Promes

Tuesday, February 4th, 2020

Article source: KWK Promes

Context

Unikato supposed to stand in the center of Katowice – once a dynamically developing industrial city. The testimony of that era are the impressive modernist buildings. Today, the city is experiencing a demographic crisis and suffers from sub-urbanization. There is a lack of new residential buildings, and the city is subordinated to car traffic generated by people coming here every day to work from the sprawling suburbs. Unikato is to be an impulse to reverse this negative trend and to breathe new life into the area.

Project Guidelines

The project budget was extremely low. The investor provided funds only for a cheap finish – styrofoam, plaster, white plastic windows – and for the balconies, which were to be a storage space for small apartments.

All the forms, details, materials and colors applied by architects are the chepaest and and very pragmatic solutions, Image Courtesy © Juliusz Sokolowski

Functional Abstraction. Złota Apartments 19 in Katowice, Poland by ZALEWSKI ARCHITECTURE GROUP

Monday, October 28th, 2019

Article source: ZALEWSKI ARCHITECTURE GROUP

Złota 19 Apartments nominated in the Silesia Architecture Award 2019.

The project of apartment buildings assumed maximum use of a small plot area. Along with practical function characterizing the project, designers of the Zalewski Architecture Group have not forgotten to implement the project into the context of Katowice architecture. The use of monochrome colors, minimalist shapes and composition based on abstract play of holes were a creative nod to Silesian modernism.

The complex of apartment buildings at 19 Złota Street in Katowice includes two 5-storey residential buildings with apartments of 50-70 m2. On the top floors there are apartments ranging from 100 to 150 m2 (with a mezzanine) with direct access to the terraces. There is a semi-public recreational area available for residents among the buildings.

Two longitudinal buildings separate the internal “courtyard” – it is a solution that takes into account the optimal parameters of the apartments – sunlight, access to a semi-private garden zone, space for parking cars – while making maximum use of the available plot area.

WX1 home in Katowice, Poland by CZAJKOWSKI KUŹNIAK ARCHITEKCI

Friday, July 26th, 2019

Article source: CZAJKOWSKI KUŹNIAK ARCHITEKCI

A modern and comfortable house with an area of 151 sq m in Katowice. The ground floor was arranged in the open plan as a living area. The centrally located staircase with a glass balustrade is a real decoration of the interior, at the same time dividing the space into a sitting area that flows smoothly into the dining room on one side and a spacious kitchen on the other. In this way, the kitchen, although open, remains in some way hidden from the eyes of people staying in the living room. In the living room attention draws the wall behind a comfortable sofa, entirely finished with stone slabs, whose color perfectly matches the wooden floor laid in a classic herringbone. Although the large-glazed windows illuminate the living and dining room with daylight during the day, the architects also took care of the proper interior lighting after dark. In addition to LED lanes routed in the ceiling, they also reached for designer hanging lamps. Mirrored balls above the dining room table are remarkable interior decorations and eye-catching. The cozy atmosphere of the interior creates a composition of subdued colors, exposed on the background of white walls. The palette of gray and beige occasionally breaks stronger accents, such as mustard chairs in the dining room, black fireplace or natural greenery, beautifully exposed in a massive marble cover by the stairs. The first floor of the house is a private part, in which the hosts' bedrooms and bathrooms are located.

Chmurska Dental Studio in Katowice, Poland by jamjam architecture studio

Tuesday, April 16th, 2019

Article source: jamjam architecture studio

The concept of a dental office in Katowice based on combining two dwellings on the ground floor of a multi-residental building. The core of the concept was to brighten the compact space with bright shades complemented by pistachio-coloured and black elements of a lightening system, electrical accessories and the fitting. Grey, smooth, resin floor matches the furniture, and the linear lightening frames create orthogonal systems on ceilings of rooms. The characteristic type of a font of the logotype has been also used to mark particular rooms in two ways: green areas (available for patients) and colourless areas (restricted for medical staff).

Article source: ZALEWSKI ARCHITECTURE GROUP

The design of the office of the KPMG branch in Katowice covered 1500 m2 of multifunctional space at Francuska Office Centre in Katowice. The layout of the office does not differ significantly from the common approach to organizing corporate offices – supporting the spirit of cooperationand multitasking. So there we have open spaces, group work rooms, focus rooms and chill-out zones. Building of identity and individual expression were based on associations with what is characteristic for Silesia – underground mines and greenery on the surface.
