Article source: Royal HaskoningDHV

The new underground parking garage in Katwijk aan Zee is the result of a multifaceted commission granted to Royal HaskoningDHV by the Municipality of Katwijk. Royal HaskoningDHV is responsible for the architectural design of the underground parking and translated this design into a Building Quality Plan. Based on this Building Quality Plan, Ballast Nedam, in cooperation with ZJA, engineered the integral design (architectural, functional, structural and installation) for the realization of the parking garage.

COASTAL WORK KATWIJK in Netherlands by OKRA

Friday, June 6th, 2014

Article source: OKRA

The field of coastal defence and waterworks is the epitome of Dutch expertise. Where the famous Delta Works consist of movable dams and locks, the majority of the Dutch coastline is protected by dunes against water. ‘Rijkswaterstaat’, the department responsible for all water related infrastructure within the ministry of infrastructure and environment, is constantly working to improve the coastal defence in the Netherlands. In recent decades it works to strengthen some of the ‘weak links’ along the coast. In many places, dunes and dikes are being strengthened to ensure safety inland for the next 50 years.

Social Housing Sandtlaan – Urban Restructuring in Katwijk, The Netherlands by HVE architecten

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

HVE Architecten has designed a bright, sand-coloured housing project with a diverse program, that blends in and complements its surroundings with a certain ease and lightness. Filtered by the old trees next to the avenue Sandtlaan the light finds its way to the austere brick, glass and metal façades. Through façade composition and choice of materials the project has both a strong sense of solidity and lightness and playfulness.
