The slope of the plot, also the fact that the location of the plot is half-forest, half-street, while the commercial space requires parking places did not allow to design a standard building. Due to the location, size and relief of the plot, unusual solution of the architectural composition was chosen.
The building of modern minimalism is raised from the ground by one floor and looks as placed on thin columns. This allowed to install parking spaces on the ground floor level under the building along with storage facilities and a lobby. The architects managed to make purposeful use of the space without moving the building away from the street.

Monumental expression, two-storey building with a basement is located in the picturesque central part of Kaunas, in the old interwar villa district.

The minimalist- industrial loft is located in Kaunas, Lithuania, designed by IDwhite. The 64 square meter apartment was set up in a reconstructed multistorey industrial building. The target of the client was to design the space for a short-term rental where people become a center of the design living in the interior surrounded by city views.
In a departure from the conventional practice, a 5-person family was moving from a suburban house to an old town apartment.
The authors of the project were fascinated by the fresh approach of the clients who believe that home is inhabited by people, stories and experiences, and not by things. Thus, their key objective was to live in a ‘minimalist’ fashion – in terms of style as well as in terms of the amount of material things.
Project is situated on the slope of Nevezis river in the forest surrounding.
Shape of the plot, with agile corner at the entrance and forrest view on the opposite site, formed two main volumes of living and resting, both connected with main entrance and workplace.
Black House – brave facade material merges building to surrounding, creating a peaceful synergy with nature.
Science Island is a project in Kaunas, Lithuania designed as an icon of the paradigm between the natural landscape, mankind’s intrinsic curiosity of the complexity of the universe, and the responsibility human have within it by Alper Derinbogaz. Its ultimate aim is to achieve a high quality physical and intellectual access, establishing itself as a landmark institution in the dissemination of knowledge about the world, and have its architectural syntax play an active role in the interpretation of that knowledge.
This proposed design for Science Island creates a marked but porous division between a newly created urban environment and existing parklands. In keeping with the Science Centre’s emphasis on environmental matters, this design provides a natural barrier across the island to preserve the purity of the park. The orientation of the building allows for a fluency of movement via bridges – the existing pedestrian bridge and a new south-bank bridge – connecting the island to the old-town and expected future developments in South Kaunas. To minimise car traffic, we have kept the Science Centre as close to the Žalgiris Arena as possible. Since most visitors to Žalgiris Arena arrive in the evening from 20h, we propose that this existing car park be available to Science Centre visitors during its daytime opening hours. Deliveries will be restricted to the East side of the island. The building’s main principle is to divide the island into two parts – the landscape and the hardscape.
