Residential House in Klaipėda, Lithuania by Architectural Bureau G.Natkevicius & Partners

The house is built in Klaipėda by the Baltic Sea. The architectural idea of the house was inspired by the area itself, which is a former dune, currently overgrown with a forest, which base are pines. Therefore, the aim was to create a facade that is somewhat close to pine bark, so that the walls and roof of the building like scales resemble the bark of a pine.

Crematorium The Tumulus in Klaipėda, Lithuania by AEXN Architects

The crematorium is located on a flat surface in a field by the forest. The mass concept of the design is a rather sensitive manner – it represents a shallow hill rising from the surface. The crematorium is designed with a metaphor of a burial mound covered with white linen. The volume of the building and its access spaces are separated by embankments of the surrounding landscape. The structure of the roof is reminiscent of a ritual blank that covers architectural volume and tailors it into the surrounding ground. The crematorium building is visible from a distant perspective and becomes the epicenter of the ritual. It calmly invites and releases those who arrive. It is a place of emotional discharge and a quiet transformation subordinate to the eternal time and the experience of eternity.

Švyturys brewery gastropub in Klaipėda, Lithuania by Plazma Architecture Studio

The scope of our design commission was broad yet clearly defined. The interior of Švyturys Brewery needed to include a bar, a beer shop, a tasting area, an exhibition space, a conference room, a concert stage, and more to become a place where people could socialize and learn about Lithuania’s proud beer brewing culture.
