Royal Calcutta Golf Club affectionately known as the “Royal” is synonymous with the game of golf in this country. Founded in 1829, Royal is the oldest golf club outside the British Isles.
The combination of wood, steel, glass and greens come together in this contemporary expression of a residence in the tropical climate of Kolkata. This model home is a standalone version of typical apartments that are to come up as part of a 40-storeyed tower. This is capped by a rooftop lounge and terrace created to enjoy panoramic views across the site.
The Aurus Home is designed to be, currently, a mockup for a 4-bedroom apartment with a double height living-dining space and a large balcony. The bedrooms are planned to be meeting rooms and audio visual facilities until they are converted into a home for its end user. Meanwhile, the rooftop terrace overlooks the construction of the tower.
Tata Consultancy Services’ new software development campus encompasses 2.1 million SF of space housing more than 16,000 employees. Spread across a 40-acre site, the design of the campus was inspired by the important role courtyards play in traditional Indian architecture, specifically the role they play in fostering community interactions. As such, the entire site – including the buildings themselves – is filled with courtyards, dynamic building scales framing the courtyards, and a diverse sequence of landscaped spaces.
Kolkata is the city which is home to some of the most revered places of worship of Hinduism, the seat of divine female power, Shakti, the “Dakshineswar Kali temple”. Located on the banks of Ganges at the northern tip of the metropolis, this place of worship was originally built by Rani Rashmoni.
The project brief was to create a dynamic and dramatic office space for a new division of a company with varied interests and businesses. Since the client had rented this space for a short term lease, the solution had to be a minimum investment on “fixed interiors” with maximum focus on elements that could be moved to another location and reused in future.
Kolkata is an ancient city in eastern part of India. Post Independence, this city has not grown like others in India, and has not yet adopted architectural characters. On the contrary this city is becoming more chaotic & mono dramatic. But the city definitely has vibrant life, and people here have love for Art & Culture. As client vision was to give the most expressive, vibrant, technologically advanced & sustainable management institute, we thought about adding colours to city life.
Nature in its various forms has always been a constant source of inspiration to man. The sky with its various states and ever changing colors is one of the most dynamic elements of nature and is what has inspired the built form façade. The colored laminate with Vanceva PVB glass on the façade follows no repetitive pattern and is symbolic of the unpredictable nature of the sky. It also represents the vibrancy of today’s youth.
