The site is in Nishioji-hachijo, Kyoto. From the main street we enter into a covert place along an alley of 4 meters in width. This construction is a collective housing consisting of 11 units. The impersonality of segmental housing complex is completely concealed in this architecture. Instead it is built to be seen as one big house. The architecture is covered with a wall in which holes are cut. The shape of the holes resembles a trunk, leaves, a root and bulbs. It also can be seen as clouds floating over the trees. Concrete shape which is based on nature turns into a hollow cave, light, and sunbeams filtered through trees.
The essence of this architecture lies in an inner court．
The site is at Sumizome, Fushimi, Kyoto. It is a small town with a long and distinguished history, situated south of Tofukuji temple. Facing to south, the building is built on a gentle slope.
It is a collective housing of five stories. Two tenants occupy the front and back side of the first floor. There are four units on the second to fourth floor and two units on the fifth floor.
The site of the house is located in the end of a narrow lane in a dense residential area. It is surrounded by retaining walls of adjacent plots which are raised on the north and east side. The house was designed for a young couple and their child on such a sunken site.
The structure of the house is reinforced concrete on the ground floor and wooden structure on the first floor. Volume of the house is automatically decided by building bylaws such as FSI for floor area of the house and height restriction for the height of the house. That volume is placed unintentionally in the centre of the site, which resulted to create two open spaces on the east and west side.
The renovation of this historical costume makeover studio in Arashiyama, Kyoto, has been completed. A 40 year old building that seemed like a traditional old house has been renovated to a modern shop. There was a need for us to find a design solution that took into account the local-ism and landscape features of Arashiyama, Kyoto. Not many buildings consider the landscape that they inhabit. Even though there are limitations to the form and finishes of buildings due to landscape regulations around this area. The buildings that have generic tourists attraction features, historical architecture and a traditional Kyoto town houses create a miscellaneous town.

A key to open “my house”, which is standing along a narrow street of a crowded town, is designed as a key itself on the façade of this house. A house can be called a key, which will open up your life happily. Such a small key, this house is a key!
This building planned in the location of Katsurazaka in Kyoto city. In this area, you can see many houses built by the general House Makers. In short, all of the buildings lined in this area will look similar and monotonous shapes.
The house for a couple and a young child was built in the place in the housing lot and the field in the Kyoto city that existed together. This house exists with “Sense of distance” as the theme. The first floor is LDK space including books and Japanese style space. The second floor is a compact plan there are a child room, a bedroom, study, a closet, and a terrace around void, and with the wandering.
