The house is on a small and irregular lot overlooking the bay of Lima. The limited space -105 m2- poses a vertical development program which is distributed in four levels: 1st service, 2nd social area, 3rd master bedroom, 4th bedroom sons and roof.
This house is located on a beach called Playa del Sol, in the district of Asia, in Lima, Peru. This land has 330 m2, with a frontage of 10ml and 33ml deep.
The project is on the beach Palillos, south of Lima, Peru to 116 kilometers from the city.
The starting point was to achieve transparency, so as not to obstruct the sea view, and not just people who live there can see the beach but also the neighbors who are not in and walking back. This was achieved by placing the private spaces to the side, making a coated stone volume and the rooms are on the second level, public spaces like the living room and kitchen in most area so you can see through them with clear glass. To keep privacy between outside and inside the income level rises. Another important point is achieved with the design is the connection of the outer housing glasses to hide inside the walls and be completely open to the outside.
The Project is located in one of the highest areas of the city and consists of a 3 level house, designed for a young couple with 2 small children.
The family´s programmatic requirements and the steep topography of the terrain required the project to be conceived as a compact and efficient structure. The house is designed as a narrow volume with a longitudinal orientation in order to adequate it´s structure to the sloping topography of the plot and take advantage of the stunning views of the city.
This house is located on the outskirts of Lima City, Peru, within a 3000m² terrain. This terrain is mainly flat ground and is surrounded by abundant foliage. The concept of this design arose from the merger of three important aspects: the client’s requirements, integration with the nearby landscape and the local materials to be used.
The sloped max. envelope was given by Peruan building codes. The program was massive.
Therefore a sunken outside plaza was introduced, connected to an open and public reception space, serving together as possible event space. This way the living function could reach down close to the ground floor, still providing enough privacy through the gap generated by the sunken plaza.
The extension of the Visual Arts School of Lima supposes a challenge in different issues:
The relationship between old and new. The actual building is an architectural landmark, a very good example of neo-colonial architecture of the 1930’s The addition should be respectful of the existing building but we considered it should also be a testimony for XXIst century architecture in Lima.
The house is the result of dealing with three important variables: satisfying the functional needs of the family, adapting the design to a difficult sloping topography without resorting to complicate and expensive structures, and capturing the views towards a golf course despite the fact that the plot is not adjacent to it.
