Family Birdhouse in Vilnius, Lithuania by YCL studio

Thursday, August 18th, 2022

Article source: YCL studio

The house with the round window is in a dense block of private houses in Vilnius. 182 square meters, two-story house with a small garage volume, which is an identical shape scaled to the appropriate size to fit one car.

The key wish from the clients was to have a big common space not divided by stairs in any way. So we chose to move the stairs out of the main perimeter of the house. This idea creates an interesting shape that looks different as you walk around the house. The north part of the house with the stairs has just one round window. It reminds us of a newly built birdhouse that waits for its dwellers.

Commercial building in Kaunas, Lithuania by Architectural Bureau G.Natkevicius & Partners

Monday, August 1st, 2022

Article source: Architectural Bureau G.Natkevicius & Partners

The slope of the plot, also the fact that the location of the plot is half-forest, half-street, while the commercial space requires parking places did not allow to design a standard building. Due to the location, size and relief of the plot, unusual solution of the architectural composition was chosen.

The building of modern minimalism is raised from the ground by one floor and looks as placed on thin columns. This allowed to install parking spaces on the ground floor level under the building along with storage facilities and a lobby. The architects managed to make purposeful use of the space without moving the building away from the street.

025 Concrete home in Vilnius, Lithuania by ŠA Atelier

Sunday, April 24th, 2022

Article source: ŠA Atelier

The house stands in one of the settlements of individual houses in Vilnius city. The street and neighboring buildings are under development. Several plots already have houses, but most are still awaiting for individual construction with an unpredictable architectural result. Such a forecast for the future resulted in a restrained and laconic character of the house that could easily cope with the various solutions of the neighboring buildings.

Cedar House in Vilnius, Lithuania by arches

Saturday, December 5th, 2020

Article source: arches

The first time we visited the area with its owners, we were greeted by “the real owner of the area” – a confident, calm, brown-colored dog. Some time ago, this dog was lost and found shelter at the former owner’s house. It took a little amount of care to him to stay here. The owners sold their house, moved away, but the dog stayed loyal to the place. He stayed here during the period of construction, patiently waited for the inconvenience to end. Not only the owners changed, but the all site as well. Although, he stayed loyal. Nowadays, he still greets visitors to the site. Holding his head up he takes care and protects the place. It seems that the new place fits him as well as the former one. Today, he is named Brownie – a beloved and well-known dog in the area. A true story that inspired not only us. We fell in love not only with this place, but it’s spirit as well. It was a start point where the sensitive designing of architecture started.

Mr. Sloping in Vilnius, Lithuania by YCL studio

Sunday, November 8th, 2020

Article source: YCL studio

Cozy, tiny apartment in the newly developed living area in Vilnius, Paupys.

The initial program was to create a simple, but attractive apartment for rent. You may ask: “Why so many slopes?” and we may answer that all started with one huge recuperation pipe that went along the wall through all the apartment. And then all started… To hide one pipe we developed a composition of sloping spaces and doorways that all play the same game in one tiny apartment. Coming closer to the result we saw that this small apartment became more than a place to live, it became a little sculpture, that you almost want to carry it anywhere you go.
