Mothers home is a safe haven. A stepping stone for mothers with difficulies. A chanse of respite for their children. And a sense of home for their small fragile families.

Architecture follows these statements and is trynig to give form to inteweaving dualities of this social programme.

A show flat in the new modern complex Situla in Ljubljana, Slovenia by GAO architects

Friday, December 16th, 2016

Article source: GAO architects

A show flat in the new modern complex Situla, situated next to the main train station in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, designed by GAO architects.

Gao architects designed the interior of the flat, based upon a story of living an urban, dynamic and creative life in the core of the city. We associated the urban lyrics, colourfulness and liveliness of the passing trains with a sort of rough design of certain lofts which can imitate the modern way of living with its fusion of different decorative elements. They can reflect a very artistic way of living due to the choice of materials.

APARTMENT SP in Ljubljana, Slovenia by SADAR+VUGA

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Article source: SADAR+VUGA

Apartment in the 19th century townhouse in Ljubljana is a place of opposites: it is both warm and cold, both soft and orthagonal. It is equally open and closed against its surroundings and both in contact and in conflict with it’s past. It is an interpolation of two different but visually connected ambients with contrasting identities and materialities: the loft and the salon.

Kindergarten Jelka in Ljubljana, Slovenia by ARHITEKTURA JURE KOTNIK

Tuesday, June 21st, 2016

Article source: ARHITEKTURA JURE KOTNIK

Kindergarten Jelka is an extension of a kindergarten in a housing neighbourhood from the sixties in a Slovenia’s capital city Ljubljana. When a new housing complex was built in the vicinity, this kindergarten extension became a necessity. Local authorities have commissioned a local prefab company to build the new annex entirely from wood, also to showcase the adequacy of wooden constructions for the kindergarten use. Building with local wood is not only nature friendly way to create healthy and cosy environment, but it is also a first step to invite the children into the world of sustainable values.

Ljubljana apartment in Slovenia by SoNo arhitekti

Friday, April 29th, 2016

Article source: SoNo arhitekti

This older larger apartment is located in the city center of Ljubljana. The client’s wish was to transform an existing residential space into an open, modern and at the same time a comfortable and a functional home. We have created a central living area where the furniture elements, despite their uniform appearance form two distinct ambiances, but also connect to the smaller intimate atrium. Along the main dividing wall the kitchen elements are located and they subtly convert into the fireplace that sensibly rounds up the entire residential space. Playfully arranged furniture elements which are otherwise clean simple geometric shapes achieve a more sensible integration of the existing walls as well as a more reasonable organization of the space itself. Smaller cramped rooms now are logically linked and more spacious and thus create a better feeling of living.

9 Frames Hall in Ljubljana, Slovenia by SVET VMES Architects

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015

Article source: SVET VMES Architects

The design concept for renovation of the entrance hall of Poljane Grammar School (established in 1889) in Ljubljana, Slovenia, was to highlight the existing qualities of the historical shell – preserved wall and ceiling stucco and elaborate columns, placed in a strict symmetrical axis. A small square in front of the building, the entrance hall and the central staircase are all connected by this important path that has been poorly manipulated by various spatial reconstructions in the past.
