This state history museum is located adjacent to the Louisiana State Capitol and Gardens within the governmental complex now known as Capitol Park. The project is the sole cultural institution included in an ambitious master planning effort to relocate 1.5 million square feet of dispersed state governmental offices into a consolidated location surrounding the historic Capitol Tower, built in 1932 by then governor Huey Long.

Reinventing the Crescent: Riverfront Development Plan in New Orleans, Louisiana by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple

New Orleans has long been dependent on its majestic river. The banks of the Mississippi River have served many purposes throughout the city’s history and are now poised to play a crucial new role. The city’s economy has suffered the slow loss of maritime activity due to port consolidation and sudden, comprehensive loss of civic stability due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Lamar Advertising Headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Article source: Eskew+Dumez+Ripple

This new corporate headquarters for a local advertising agency is a reaction against the standard issue office environment. People require interaction in today’s workplace as they go to work to collaborate, to brainstorm, to do research, to do a range of activities they don’t necessarily think of as “work” in the traditional sense of the word. Much of what we observe in creative environments is a more informal interaction in settings not typical or traditional, such as chance meetings in corridors or conversations around the coffee pot.

Our design is structured to reinforce that culture of openness. To accomplish this, we have radically altered the internal configuration of a 1970’s era data center while leaving the exterior essentially unchanged.

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Article source: Sustainable.TO

“Low Cost, Low Energy House” utilizes an efficient linear organization, which integrates both passive and active environmental systems with program, circulation and the building enclosure. The simple building shape lends itself to the demands of airtight, thermal bridge-free construction and allows the opportunity for more cost-effective, higher-quality prefabrication, proving that an affordable and sustainable house can also be attractive.
