SKI home in Madesimo, Italy by ES arch enricoscaramelliniarchitetto

The development of the architectural project has determined the construction of a building that combines a unitary image with an articulated arrangement, determined by external factors (distances, constraints). The trend of the perimeter walls adapts to external constraints, the smallness of the land does not allow to define geometrically determined trends. Starting from the given perimeter, through a series of minor corrections, orientation corrections and consolidation of rotations, a plant has been determined that is repeated on the first floor, except for small differences. The articulated plant does not have the possibility to determine the course of the ridge on geometric bases. It is in terms of volume that there have been various trends in the ridge and the pitches, in order to create an elegantly articulated volume, without poignant elements.

Casa FD in Madesimo, Italy by Enrico Scaramellini Architetto

It often happens that building can be a time-consuming activity, and it can last more than we expected. During this time, the building is an object under construction without its inhabitants, and it has a partial volume and shape. At high altitudes, where building times are reduced due to seasons, they are often extended and there are long pauses between the different phases. It is indeed during these pauses that the building starts to make contact with the landscape, in a “state of suspension”.

Ristrutturazione e ampliamento in Madesimo, Italy by CONSALEZ ROSSI & ES ARCH

Article source: Consalez Rossi

The project regards the complete renovation of a detached villa of 400 sqm s and an extension of 160 sqm. The existing building is completely redesigned with the installation of wooden facades with timbered shading systems. From the new-built garages a vertical distribution gets through the entire project and distributes the different (property) units. The new building (160 sqm), originally designed to be constructed with a wooden panel technology (X-lam), has been built with precast concrete panels covered in wood.

Interior renovation: composition of flaps

The project developed itself recognizing characteristic elements which become immediately binding.

First of all it’s established the existing distribution. The project starts from a “no project act”; the choice move attention on a different project level.

The new floor, made with oak boards, becomes the form generative element. It goes up on walls, folds itself and fills some parts of ceiling. New geometries, in an almost independent form, redefine the perception of interior spaces. A new element, the red color, is introduced as a clue, as a bond. Hollow parts of furniture or colored bands in movement on the wardrobe door, become direct connection element with exterior.

Microrifugio alpino – Wardrobe in the landscape in Madesimo, Italy by Enrico Scaramellini Architetto

Article source: Enrico Scaramellini Architetto

The project is based on two specific conditions: – on one side the client’s needs, looking for a small and intimate space; – on the other a small, special and precious place. The alpine landscape dominates the place: it becomes evident the condition of a privileged and unique space.

The concept of size guides the project. Great is the land, the landscape: small is the place, the space. There is a mutual relationship that inspires the design process. What is the role of the “room” in relation to the landscape? How the landscape reflects, “adopts” the room? The point of view changes in a frenzied search for balance.

Casa Up in Madesimo, Italy by Enrico Scaramellini Architetto

The project plans the reconstruction of an existing building, respecting the same profile.

The old building was distributed on two levels with different function, stable at ground floor and barn at first floor.  On the outside the existing building is characterized by two overlapping doors on east elevation, a great entrance on south elevation, a little independent volume still on south.
