New offices of the Botín Foundation in Madrid, Spain by MVN architects

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Article source: MVN architects

The Botín Foundation has established its new offices in Madrid by choosing a 1920s industrial building by the architect Gonzalo Aguado, which was for years the Silversmith workshop of Luis Espuñes and more recently the Vinçon shop in Madrid.

The peculiarity of this building has given us the opportunity to create a reference point. With this in mind, the new project attempts to retain the spirit of the original industrial character, in keeping with the same philosophy of the Foundation, which is a driving force for developing talent.

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Article source: Alarcón + Asociados

The promoter stated it clearly: “I want a singular and bioclimatic building”

And to him, at the beginning, that meant a building with a relatively conventional appearance which would incorporate bioclimatic systems such as solar panels.

Vars House in Madrid, Spain by Aceboxalonso

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Article source: Aceboxalonso

It is located on a hill, dominating the sights – Madrid is 12 km. far (or close) but the nearest context is understood as “natural”. It was a big house, and we wanted to make as small effect on the landscape as we could, but at the same time the landscape had to add a strong effect on the interior. No colors, no synthetic or “artificial” materials; as low as possible; the “profile” of the house had to talk the language  of the place as one more of the lines in the horizon.

Ants’ House in Madrid, Spain by Espegel-fisac Arquitectos

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Article source: Espegel-fisac Arquitectos

The Ants’ House is formally conceived considering the surrounding environment and its location on a large plot in the Manzanares Park, immersed in the mountains near Madrid.

The house is meant to dominate the vast natural world which lies beyond its entrance. Its shape is designed by nature. Just like an outstretched hand, the house works its way through the almond trees reaching out from in between the branches, reaching towards different spaces and lights effects.

Fuencarral-Ei Pardo Police Station in Madrid, Spain by Voluar Arquitectura

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

Article source: Voluar Arquitectura

The general design of the project answers mainly to the adequacy of its to the environment. The building is set back from the property line leaving a free space that works as a public urban development and allowing the pedestrian access. This gives continuity to the city in order to promote the rapprochement of the citizen to a public building, by tradition, used to be considered as closed and hermetic place.

Due to the situation and the characteristics of the plot, and taking advantage of the free ground floor to generate the access for the center instead of for an end, the project appears as a threshold of access to the Colonies of “Nuestra Señora de los Angeles”, a step between the urban environment and the green space that proposes the plan.
