Nestled at the old industrial district of Section 13, Petaling Jaya, Glad Tidings Vision Centre (GTVC) is a visual respite from its dour surroundings. It is strategically located amidst established and flourishing neighbourhoods, which are predominantly residential.
Brief
The brief called for a revamp and upgrade of the old church facilities due to the growing congregation. The new building comprises a Multipurpose Hall, a garden chapel (for wedding, water baptism, prayer and meditation, and outdoor functions), prayer halls, prayer chapel, function rooms for meetings and seminars, and car parking facilities.
Inhabiting the urban lungs green building project is an office project that apply green and sustainable approach on its detailing. The propose project is located at Jalan Tun Ismail, KualaLumpur, Malaysia. Green building, also known as green construction or sustainable building is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient through out a building lifecycle: from sitting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction. This practice expands and complements the classical building design that typically concerns on economy, utility, durability and comfort.
Situated in the upper middle class suburban of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail that was developed in the early 70’s, 23 Terrace is a new double-storey terrace house reconfigured in place of its single-storey predecessor. During day, the façade is a typical contemporary terrace house with large openings, glass balustrade and minimalist security door grille and gate. At dusk, the house transforms into a lantern, casting surrealistic shadows on the cement rendered porch.
The design process for The Lantern Hotel project started in 2012 with long periods of time to get the building facade approval from the authorities, getting the client to confirm room numbers and room layout, going over and over the design, looking at different options and doing continuously cost-cutting exercises to maximize cost and profit for the client, achieving 49 guest rooms, all with attached bathroom, 2 dorms with each 6 beds and external bathroom, facilities for breakfast, centralized computer area, locker area and an outdoor terrace for a total project cost of only 4.2mil including furnishing.
Tepian Tunku residence is situated in an old-established, low-density residential area called Bukit Tunku in central Kuala Lumpur, surrounded by vast landscape.
The site of 26,000 sq ft is situated along a dead-end road, sloping downwards with wild overgrown planting ending close to an existing stream outside their lot with a gross build up area of ~10,000sq ft.
The House is located on a small lot in the older suburbs of Petaling Jaya. The owners had purchased an old dilapidated house and wanted to rebuild a new family home. Upon inspection it was discovered that the old house had good quality Indian clay roof tiles that were still robust. And as the property faced west, the clay roof tiles offered a good solution to vertically screen the façade from the morning and afternoon sun.
OOZN’s Bukit Pantai concept imagines three tiered lightweight residential pavilions floating over a verdant Kuala Lumpur hillside. The pavilions are clad in a flowing aluminium fabric skin that responds to changing light conditions. Perforations screen the interiors from the harsh tropical sun whilst the rippling geometry creates the impression of movement.
A new two storey residential in the existing established suburb of Section 14, Petaling Jaya. The new extension integrates with the existing old structure and trees on site.
Loke Thye Kee Residences is situated in the heart of Georgetown Penang, one of 5 Malaysian UNESCO world sites rich in heritage. MOD’s design draws inspiration from this heritage and specifically the historic Loke Thye Kee restaurant, its 100-year-old namesake and neighbor. Both the restaurant and the residences re developed by the same owner, 1919 Global Sdn Bhd.
