The School Complex (provides primary and secondary school levels) is located in the outskirts of Binnisalem urban fabric. The plot is located along a suburban road named “Camí de Pedaç” on which the urban planning has concentrated a heterogeneous mix of typologies, including diverse row houses, detached blocks and urban facilities.
In 1967, a small hotel, Hotel Castell dels Hams, was established on the island of Majorca amid the Mediterranean vegetation. Over time, and through subtle improvements and extensions, it has become one of the most distinctive hotels on the eastern part of the island.
The site is located in a housing development area in Calvia coast, close to a pine forest overlooking the sea. The client wanted to have a house with views among the trees.
The building is fitted in the plot towards the buildable boundary enclosing itself in a half moon shape and focusing all the rooms towards the sea. In order to preserve the existing trees the shape of the building is adapted to their position, so the constructed area is understood as independent pavillions on the one side connected on the other through a common and ample area that allows people to move along.
The plot is located in an urban condition in the centre of Cala Ratjada, in a corner position, close to the sea and to the main square of the village. The program consists in having seven housing state’s dwellings, two premises and seven parking spaces.
The Project is based on achieving a set of goals, on the one hand, to respond with an optimal solution to the question of creating city and on the other one, on improving life conditions and achieve flexibility in social housing:
Studio Weil is a painting and sculpture studio designed and built for the American painter and sculptor Barbara Weil in Port d’Andratx in Mallorca Spain. Daniel Libeskind worked closely with Ms. Weil to create a building which not only responds to the surrounding landscape, but also forms a space which complements and contrasts the artist’s work. The gallery, workshop and storage spaces is a unique fusion of the architectural with art: a fusion where the architecture in its form, materiality and geometry illuminates, complements and gives voice to the art of Barbara Weil. The Studio was completed in 2003 in collaboration with Goccisa.
Located on the rocky coast of the Balearic Island of Mallorca in Santa Ponsa, not far from Palma, this family house is pushed into a steep hillside, celebrating its Mediterranean proximity. The design responds to the site’s foremost demand, which is to open itself up to the seascape. A succession of terraces modulates the terrain from the street level to the bottom of the site, defining areas in which the house ties in with spaces outdoors: a sculpture garden, a dining loggia, a sun terrace, and a pool.
