One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, United Kingdom by SpaceInvader

Saturday, January 1st, 2022

Article source: SpaceInvader

Leading Manchester interiors agency SpaceInvader has transformed the look of one of the city’s landmark developments at One Piccadilly Gardens for client LGIM Real Assets (Legal & General). The well-known building, originally designed by architects Allies and Morrison and developed in 2003 by Argent, faces onto the Gardens with high-impact red-brick frontage. The building is comprised of retail on the ground floor and office space above and was sold to Europa Capital in 2011 before being purchased by Legal & General in 2014. The brief to SpaceInvader for the new interiors of the six-storey, Grade A office building was to transform its look and feel into a more inviting, dynamic space that promoted a sense of welcome, wellbeing, flexibility and collaboration, via a scheme that would match the building fabric in terms of character and presence.

Tosca Debt Capital, Trinity Bldg, MCR in Manchester, England by SpaceInvader

Wednesday, March 31st, 2021

Article source: SpaceInvader

SpaceInvader has completed a boutique, 2,000 sq ft workspace for Manchester-based Tosca Debt Capital on the 5th floor of the Helical-owned Trinity Building on the city’s John Dalton Street. Not only was this a fast turnaround scheme, commissioned in July 2020, but it was designed and delivered by the SpaceInvader and wider installation team during lockdown and semi-lockdown, proving what could still be achieved under such exacting pandemic conditions.

Tosca Debt Capital is a financial services company that brings additional, complementary debt funding options to regional markets, giving SMEs – particularly those across the Northern Powerhouse – access to institutional capital to help drive entrepreneurial ambitions. The strong relationships the company builds with management teams set it apart and, with all decision-making, underwriting and portfolio management taking place from the company’s Manchester base, the office’s location, look and feel were crucial for its relationships with clients.

A melting pot of buildings and spaces, KAMPUS will celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of the city with respect to the historic quality of Canal Street.

Bupa Place in Manchester, England by CHAPMAN TAYLOR

Wednesday, September 19th, 2018

Article source: CHAPMAN TAYLOR

Chapman Taylor’s concept design was selected following a competitive process to select a scheme for the building, occupying a prominent waterside location and adjacent to the award-winning MediaCityUK, the building is the largest single occupancy building in Manchester.

Health and wellbeing was at the core of the design brief and we have designed light open spaces, fully glazed façades and a large central atrium which creates a vibrant working environment within. Circulation stairs are finished to a high standard with natural daylight to encourage staff to get active and stay healthy.

A striking brise soleil wraps the southern faces of the building to create shade and avoid excessive solar gain, while maintaining views out across the water. The ground floor opens out onto landscaped areas linking to the waterfront.

HOME – Arts Center in Manchester, England by Mecanoo

Tuesday, March 21st, 2017

Article source: Mecanoo

Cultural home

Located at First Street, HOME forms the cultural heart of one of the largest areas of development in Manchester city centre – a flagship building that acts as a catalyst for the surrounding area. As the base for the new organisation formed by the merger of Cornerhouse and The Library Theatre Company, HOME has been designed to allow for the commissioning, production and presentation of critically engaged and technically complex artistic projects, as well as the hosting of large scale cultural events. The overall budget for HOME was £25 million. Its striking exterior acts like beacon, while the welcoming public spaces and social areas within are designed to be inviting to all. HOME is like a second home, a cultural home: a place for making, meeting and socialising, alongside enjoying the very best in international contemporary visual art, theatre and film.

Grafton Street NHS Car Park in Manchester, England by Sheppard Robson Architects

Wednesday, March 15th, 2017

Article source: Sheppard Robson Architects

Aliva UK was commissioned to develop an eye-catching, 3D-effect façade that would bring vitality to a hospital parking ‘super-hub’ for visitors. Architect Sheppard Robson’s brief was to extend the existing Grafton Street car park and create a striking local landmark for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust, which cares for a million patients every year.

The brief

The car park building is normally seen from the side, not face-on, so the architects wanted cladding that would ‘step off’ the building, pushing out a further 800mm.

Sheppard Robson specified a metal façade that would not only enhance security, but also provide a minimum 75% natural air-flow to help the building breathe without the need for mechanical ventilation. This was a vital consideration due to exhaust fumes in the car park.
