The strict building regulations reduced the design margins. From these requirements, the architects developed a three dimensional structure that stands out for its sculptural character. The starting point was the clear shape of a cube whose edges follow the building lines and the instructions to the roof design. As with a sculptural work the corners are cut out creating differently proportioned indoor and outdoor spaces. The living area is placed on the top floor, a flowing space that narrows and widens or opens into a corner. Built-in furniture divide the smooth transitions between the different residential areas. The deep cut terraces offer either private or through openable glazing, rubbing shoulders with the city and adjoining vineyard. The strict building regulations reduced the design margins.
