Jouney café, located in the heart of downtown Montreal, is a Lebanese café/bakery concept created by Patrick Abdelahad. It takes takes its name from the seaside town of Jounieh, the owner’s hometown.
Once again this year, MENKÈS SHOONER DAGENAIS LETOURNEUX Architectes has won an award of excellence at the Best of Canada Design Competition presented by Canadian Interiors magazine. Presented during the IIDEX Canada National Design and Architecture Exposition, held annually in Toronto, the prestigious awards recognize Canada’s best design projects. Ericsson Canada’s new corporate campus and R&D centre was cited for a design that embodies a corporate culture focused on openness and collaboration, and for workspaces that foster innovation and creativity.
Renovation of the ground floor level and basement of a historic duplex. The new staircase serves not only as a link between each level, but also as the focal point of the updated space and as a skylight. This new light allows the use of the living and work spaces in the basement, which wasn’t possible before the intervention.
Atelier Barda has converted a building that once housed two apartments above a grocery store into a single-family home, “Résidence Villeneuve”. The façade consists of two wood-framed storefront windows on either side of a central door. The plot on which the building stands is located between a southwest-facing side yard (formerly used for unloading and storing merchandise) and a long garage with a shed above.
Last October 24 was held the media launch of Symphonia POP, a project for the development of a residential tower possessing an iconic modular architecture, to be located on the southern tip of Île-des-Sœurs. Jean-François Parenteau, mayor of the Verdun borough, Kevin Robinson, general manager of real estate developer Développements Symphonia, and Roch Cayouette, partner-architect at Provencher_Roy, were in attendance to unveil the key elements of this high-end project.
BLACK BOX II is the latest in a series of tiny additions impacting existing architecture in a big way. Conceived as a jewelry box, large openings blur the interior/exterior boundary, revealing its treasure of fine cabinetmaking work within through the playful use of complementary surface materials.

A couple with two young children wish to transform a duplex located in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie into their principal family residence. The project consists in reorganizing the original portion of the house and enlarging it with an extension in the yard while preserving the façade on the street as required by the city bylaws.
Perles et Paddock is a restaurant whose interior design was brought to life by a designer, an architect and a restaurateur working in close collaboration. Clairoux’s team supplied an authentic design experience inspired by the neighbourhood’s history and tailored to the restaurant’s philosophy.
The Saint-Laurent apartment is located in Montreal’s Mile End district, the heart of the city’s vibrant arts scene. Both the apartment and furniture were designed by Atelier Barda.
The architectural firm was given the mandate to redesign this 1150 sq. ft. space, which serves as accommodation for the international clients and collaborators of a company in the fashion industry.
A cross between a hotel room and loft apartment, the space required a simple yet warm design treatment that would suit its diverse occupants.

The project is located on “de la Roche” Street, in the neighbourhood of Le Plateau Mont-Royal, a vibrant district with an exceptional urban vitality. In the light of its situation, the project aims to give a new breath to its plot with a contemporary residential building of five housing units. It should intend to reflect all the energy of this strategic sector where young professionals mix with families and couples. Thus, the project has to be a soft densification that fits into the current urban landscape without distorting it. One of the concerns is to keep families in the city by creating a quality living environment based on a green strategy.
