Zaryadye Park in Moscow, Russia by Maxwan architects + urbanists

Wednesday, November 20th, 2013

Article source: Maxwan architects + urbanists

Our goal for this project is simply the creation of a timeless park that has great value for centuries to come. This is an informal and dynamic park that can adopt future trends and changes of use. We deny a formal, static, trendy and ’wow!’ oriented park that only relates to current circumstances and stays ‘hip’ for a short while.

Apartment in Moscow, Russia by ITHAKA – Architecture and design

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Article source: ITHAKA – Architecture and design

The main concept was a rational approach to the use of expensive housing in Moscow. The future residents chose a minimalistic interior with open space instead of separated living and dining rooms and predominant white color for the walls. The use of organic materials such as travertine of milky color and American walnut wood of chocolate shade ensure an elegant, yet welcoming feel throughout.

Nevertheless it’s famous for strict corporate style, it was definitely expressive and bright decisions of za bor architects that were chosen for the project of expansion and renovation of Castrol office inMoscow. Architects managed to implement the famous Castrol’s tagline: «It’s more than just oil. It’s liquid engineering» into the office space. Namely the idea of liquidity, versatile fluid – oil – was taken as a basis for this office conception. Though, shallowness, which is indicative for liquids, gave way for curved dynamic objects, distinctive for za bor architects projects.

Pushkinsky Cinema in Moscow, Russia by Za Bor Architects

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

Article source: Za Bor Architects

The main idea of the offered solution is transformation of Pushkinsky cinema while preserving its original historical volume. Modern expressive elements «sprout» through the semicentennial structure, symbolically connecting the old and the new by means of the shape and materials.

Museum And Educational Center in Moscow, Russia by 3XN

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

Article source: 3XN

The intent of the new Museum & Educational Centre (MEC) is to be a meaningful building beyond its iconic form.  Through both an internal and external architectural expression of flexibility, it recognizes that architecture shapes behavior.  In that regard, the new MEC is about connecting with people, while opening up the world of science, technology, innovation and Russia’s extraordinary achievements in these domains. As technology develops and we enter deeper into the 21st century, the convergence of Science and Art becomes even more relevant in our everyday interactions. Today’s society seeks ways that Science and Mathematics can be viewed as approachable disciplines, in order to understand the full potential of technology, and its applications in making our world a better place.  The new MEC will be a gateway to this world, challenging and evolving visitors’ perception of science and technology.

Interior office in Moscow, Russia by PlanAR Architecture Studio

Friday, April 12th, 2013

Article source: PlanAR Architecture Studio

The premises were originally designed to house a Soviet-time supercomputer. Rooms were separated from the corridor by the unused air supply shafts. The raised floor (strong enough to bear the supercomputer) was 1.5m above the concrete slab and 1.5 below the entrance level. We decided to take away the shafts along with the raised floor of the corridor. Instead, two new levels were made.
