Villa Mandra in Mykonos, Greece by K-Studio

Saturday, October 29th, 2022

Article source: K-Studio

Sitting on the ridge of the hill of Aleomandra in Mykonos yet almost entirely hidden from view, Villa Mandra looks straight out to sea and the sunset over the neighbouring island of Delos. A 6-bedroom holiday house built for a young, dynamic couple to enjoy with their family and friends, it celebrates its spectacular view from a grounded viewpoint blended into a sensitively landscaped, stone-walled garden that screens it from the road behind.

Legacy Suites – The Garden All Day Bar in Mykonos, Greece by PALY architects

Friday, March 6th, 2020

Article source: PALY architects

Legacy

Just outside the town of Mykonos, having the existing old residence of the famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin as a core, a small hotel with fully equipped suites was created. This core was expanded and modified with all the internal and external surrounding spaces completely reconstructed.

The plot has a large slope and oversees the beach of Magali Ammos.

The variety of alternative paths and different accesses to the rooms create different viewpoints to the sea and the land sections of the island.

Materials: Hand brushed plaster on exterior walls, cement plaster on the internal walls and bathrooms, natural stone flooring, wood in natural color pergolas, stabilized ceramic floor and natural pebbles floorings outdoors.

Particular emphasis was given to the indoor and outdoor furnishing and lighting.

Villa Kampani in Mykonos, Greece by OMNIVIEW

Sunday, July 29th, 2018

Article source: OMNIVIEW

Villa Kampani is one of the most historic properties of downtown Mykonos. Built in the 1850s, it was the house of the Mayor of Mykonos, after whom Akti Kampani (also known as “Gialos”) was named.

Architecturally unique, and quite rare for Mykonos, the house is a cross breed between standard Cycladic architecture and neoclassical building typology, that one would find in the center of Athens.

Chapel Mykonos in Greece by Dimitrios Tsigos – Omniview

Monday, September 25th, 2017

Article source: Dimitrios Tsigos – Omniview

The interior design that converted legendary Zorbas Bar to Chapel is part of our strategy to return to our #CycladicRoots. This has to do with giving back to the Cycladic interior and exterior spaces the elementary, indigenous qualities that have been eliminated in the past 40 years in the name of modernity.

Arcs have been traditionally employed in the Cyclades to generate enclosure when there was no concrete. Double arched roofs, a 3d geometry that is defined by arcs in various directions, are the only way to make a building when all you have is stones. The interior space feeling of a double arched roof is remarkable, and it is closely interwoven with Cycladic churches are chapels.

Precise Optics in Mykonos, Greece by Dimitrios Tsigos – Omniview

Article source: Dimitrios Tsigos – Omniview

In 1992, the sculptor Anish Kapoor addressed with his sculpture ” when I am pregnant ” the geometric relationship between a plain white wall and a double curved form. The iconic piece of art has been inspiring architects ever since, introducing the capability for a typical wall to seamlessly evolve to a more elaborate shape, while familiarizing the public with the aesthetics of such a transition
