“Primary and Secondary School Makes Free and Active Learning”.

A closed public secondary school was renovated as a private primary and secondary school. Now in Japan many schools are getting old and it’s time to renovate or rebuild. In addition, new style and approach of modern education such as “ICT education” and “active learning” are required for students’ experiential and interactive leaning. In these situations, we realized school renovation for low cost by designing all school furniture newly which makes students learn actively collaborating with in reusing the frame.

Atago Nursery in Nagasaki, Japan by KEI SASAKI / INTERMEDIA

Thursday, June 6th, 2019

Article source: KEI SASAKI / INTERMEDIA

The concept of this project is to build a nursery according to the terrain. In other words, instead of digging on the slope and violently placing a rectangular parallelepiped building, we decfined the shape of the building along the slope.
This building is a nursery for about 140 children aged 0 to 6 years.

We arranged seven children's rooms in the shape of a trace of the site, and placed stairs at the place where there was a small mountain road originally.

Wednesday, April 17th, 2019

Article source: FUKUSHIKEN, Hibinosekkei Inc,.

This is a support center for the disabled consisting of 4 different kinds of facilities, an office, and cafe space, whose concept is “The Station connecting the disabled and the local community”.

In Japan, most of facilities for the disabled are so closed with windows of opaque glass that people inside can’t be seen from outside. But it’s important that such a welfare facility is open to outside and the public for users to live close to the society with their mental health.

In front of the building, there is a café space, where anyone can come and drop in freely.

Sunday, July 20th, 2014

Article source: Architect Show Co.,Ltd

The site is located in the hill of the mountain which can take an extensive view of Omura Bay in Nagasaki. Main concept is to harmonize buildings and surrounding natural environment without destroying original natural landscape.

In order not to destroy sloping land, I made basis protrude from flat terrain and designed one part of house floating from ground and extending in air. Also I spread a planting net and performed planting of a lawn. By this way, I harmonize the house and surrounding natural environment with floating house in natural terrain.
