Membrene in Stratum in Nagoya, Japan by Kotaro Horiuchi Architecture

“Membrane in Stratum” is an installation that wraps around the interior space. The concept of human activity is emphasised by the graduation of translucency through the membrane. The membrane regulates depth and boundaries. We can divide the room in many ways by the penetration, reflectance and absorption of light. We can change the function of the room at our will. A dynamic space is born from the shadows that reflect of the membrane surface and vibrantly decorate the room.

Hansha Reflection House in Nagoya, Japan by Studio Sklim

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Article source: Studio Sklim

Situated at the entrance of Misakimizube Koen, one of the picturesque parks fronting a lake and flanked by Sakura trees, the house was conceived to be an object with the environment. The programmatic zones of Public, Service and Private spatially organised the house into 3 distinct zones with further punctuation of the main massing with the Landscape element; providing spaces for the courtyard and roof deck. This base form was further chiseled with structure, daylight/ventilation and viewpoint concerns.

Little One-room House with a Curve in Nagoya, Japan by Studio Velocity

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Little shop of 41㎡ in Nagoya city. The site has an elongated shape with a width of about 9m and a depth of 20m. While the front road is relatively wide, with a sidewalk, one might get a feeling of oppression due to the small size of the site surrounded as it by shops and houses of from 2 to 3 stories.
