The ‘Nieuwe Park Rozenburgschool’ is an elementary school in Rotterdam’s quarter Kralingen-Crooswijk with children from various ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds. The school has been spread over two locations within the district. With the extension of one of the locations all school facilities could be united again and help the school function as one institution.

OPENING VAN GOGH-ROOSEGAARDE BICYCLE PATH

The Van Gogh-Roosegaarde cycle path will be opened in Eindhoven on 12 November. The opening of this unique cycle path marks the start of the Van Gogh 2015 international theme year. The cycle path is unique. Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s work, it combines innovation and design with cultural heritage and tourism. The Van Gogh-Roosegaarde cycle path is being constructed by Heijmans from a design by Daan Roosegaarde and forms part of the Van Gogh cycle route in Brabant.

Rainbow Station in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Studio Roosegaarde

On the 11th of December, artist Daan Roosegaarde will open a large-scale light artwork at the Amsterdam Central Station, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands and Amsterdam’s deputy mayor. The artwork is launched in honour of the -by NS and ProRail- renovated 125 year old historic station. The artwork connects the historic station by architect Cuypers with the innovation of today. The light and colour offers travellers a magical moment in the evening. Every year approximately 50 million people travel through Amsterdam Central Station, towards national and international destinations.

Restaurant Maagdenhuys in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Brink Licht

The Maagdenhuys is a true Amsterdam landmark. The idea was to create a focal point once you are inside the square atrium of the University. For this purpose 36 spheres (Ø 80 cm e Ø 120 cm) were placed in the restaurant to be visible from the entrance of the building through large arched windows and to create a warm welcoming atmosphere and creating depth in the building.

Grenswerk, part of the medieval city on the Maas river, is to become the future creative and cultural heart of Venlo. Specifically the parceling, typical of old town structures, was advised by the urban plan of AWG, as being a carrier of new architectural developments.

In October, the Publique Restaurant opened its doors on one of the most exciting squares in The Hague’s vibrant city centre.
The brothers Casper and Sjoerd Smits and their cousin Maurits Jonkman, all experienced restaurateurs, asked Robert Kolenik to design a stylish but accessible version of that much-loved French classic, the bistro.

Holiday House in Vlieland, Netherlands by Bloem and Lemstra Architects

Extension of Farelcollege in Ridderkerk, Netherlands by KCAP Architects&Planners

The extension of Farelcollege in Ridderkerk designed by KCAP Architects&Planners has been officially opened last week. The new building for general secondary education has already been in use since last September. Providing 1,700 m2 over three floors, the school accommodates 400 students within 12 classrooms with an additional flexible classroom on the ground floor. The dramatic entrance creates a new main entry for the college.

Eindhoven Airport and Tulip Inn hotel in Netherlands by De Bever Architecten and KCAP Architects&Planners

The extension of the terminal of Eindhoven Airport and the new hotel Tulip Inn Eindhoven Airport, both designed by De Bever Architects and KCAP Architects&Planners, were officially opened in 21 June 2013. De Bever Architects and KCAP together with NACO as the ‘Constellation’ were also responsible for the first terminal built in 2005. The extension consists of a new 2.000 m2 entrance zone with additional retail, bars and restaurants on the ground floor, a 2.700 m2 extension of the arrival hall and 2.700 m2 of offices on the first floor. The 8 storey hotel offers 120 hotel rooms, a bar, breakfast space and fitness facilities; a restaurant and meeting rooms are offered within the terminal building.
