The iWeb is a single space building that was originally designed as the pavilion for the province of Noord Holland for the Floriade 2002, the international exhibition of flowers and gardening, held every 10 years in The Netherlands. The iWeb was later redeveloped as laboratory for the Hyperbody Research Group (HRG), Delft University of Technology, faculty of Architecture (TU Delft). The building lost its function after a coffee machine destroyed the faculty of Architecture building in May 2008. In September 2014 ONL [Oosterhuis_Lénárd] (ONL) donated the iWeb building to the public domain by uploading the design and construction datasets to GitHub.
Situated in Maasbracht–near the Dutch-Belgian border–this sinuous 1.850 m2 office is a headquarters for the water traffic control of surrounding sluices, canals, and locks–all of which are adjacent to the river Meuse. This plethora of entangled waterways is heavily utilized for shipping throughout this area, at the confluence of France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Numerous previously disparate waterway control centers were combined to create this new office, and this regrouping determined its primary, curvilinear volume. This elevated polygonal shape strengthens visibility from the interior toward the immediate landscape, by allowing for elongated views in all 360-degrees.
The IT firm CAB Holland required a building that would clearly reflect the company’s technical nature.
van Es architecten developed a modern design characterised by clear lines, an abundance of metal and glass and an orange-yellow overhang that clearly marks the elevated office section. The building’s design incorporates various sustainable and comfortable air conditioning solutions that make use of heat recovery, adiabatic cooling and the recycling of the residual heat generated by the server room located in the complex.

Featuring two mirrored towers and a transparent mid-section, the building promises to become a new landmark for the area. Its design is both functional and efficient. In addition, the transparent mid-section offers sufficient flexibility to accommodate for the companies’ future growth ambitions.
Thomas Bedaux of Bedaux de Brouwer Architecten designed this single family residence for his family on the edge of a residential area in Tilburg, the Netherlands. Recent changes in the zoning plan yielded a previously non existing lot that is situated at the intersection of three distinctly different worlds. These worlds, an existing block of row houses from the 1950’s, farm land with roaming sheep and an active cemetery, provided unique opportunities that informed the design.
