General Aviation Terminal Schiphol in Netherlands by VMX Architects

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Article source: VMX Architects

Schiphol’s General Aviation (GA) Terminal is where the private and business flights of Heads of States, members of the Royal Family, CEO’s, pop stars and top football players are handled. As a reaction to the inconvenience of flying today with low-cost airways and long queues, VMX found it’s inspiration in the terminals from the era in which aviation was seen as a pleasure and had a luxurious appeal.

House Hoefman in Heerenveen, Netherlands by Lautenbag Architectuur (designed using AutoCAD)

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Article source: Lautenbag Architectuur

The parcel is 18 meter wide and 32 meter deep and is situated with the garden on the south side. The strict regulations of this development site define for a large part the shape of the building. However, there is enough room to give the house an individual character and to create a high quality home. It’s the organization and technical detailing that makes the house special. The orientation of the site asks for a living space as large as possible adjacent to the garden, to create maximum contact between the living room and the garden. Therefore the total rear facade of the house is glass.

In the matt timber front facade the shiny aluminum is a real eye-catcher

Villa van Lipzig in Venlo, Netherlands by Loxodrome architects & planners bv

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Article source: Loxodrome architects & planners  bv

The property of the Villa van Lipzig in Venlo/Netherlands is a small, narrow stripe on the border of the new development area ´Stalberg´. It is not the usual plot of a villa-  and therefore it became very fast, very clear that an extraordinary solution for the stacking of all desired rooms was necessary. On a small footprint a lot of spaces had to be combined. The introduction of the split-level floors solves this problem. With an extra horizontal shift of each floor, the visual connection between the split-levels becomes visible –  in- and outside of the Villa.
