The villa is located in the dune forest in Bloemendaal The Netherlands. The most important feature of the villa is the orientation to the surrounding nature. Volumes are rotated towards each other creating beautiful views into the forrest. The windows on the ground floor create the relation with the rabbit, on the first floor the views are straight into the trees where you can admire the squirrel, the third level raises from the tree level and you can enjoy the open sky with the birds. The relation with the outdoor space is not only visual but also physical. Bij shifting the building volumes from each other each room has a outdoor terrace.
The Chimney House in Bosschenhoofd has a simple main volume with a rectangular floor plan and a saddleback roof. The plan is based on the fact that the chimney is a disappearing feature in architecture of this century. This tempted us to create a house with several chimneys. The chimney has been used in different sizes and shapes and with different functions.
The Lichttoren from 1909 is one of the historical factories of Philips in Eindhoven. During the twentieth century, light bulbs and other products have been produced and tested in the tower on the head of the building.
A new day-centre for the clients ‘Heeren Loo healthcare institution’ will be built on the edge of the dunes of the Willem van den Bergh grounds. The day-centre will be formed by two courts through which a public route will proceed. Inverted integration will take place in this public domain. Here, the visitor will meet the user, in other words, the client, of the institution.
This tautly designed houseboat floats in the Amstel river of Amsterdam. The design has, unlike most floating houses, a very contemporary design without losing the characteristic appearance of the typical houseboat. The clients get a lot of positive reactions. It sometimes happens that people who pass by boat knock on the windows and ask if they can enter the boat.
The silos on Zeeburgereiland are looking for a new destination. The relocation of the sewage treatment plant sparked new developments in the area: the Island now becomes inhabitable. It is strategically positioned in between the center of Amsterdam and its latest expansion called IJburg. The Island is very accessible; it directly links to the ring road A10.
Kameleon, a jeweller, has chosen COEN! to take care of its design management. All communication of this trendsetting jeweller is designed and guarded by COEN!. Jewels in this shop are presented by personality, not by material or by brand. A new logotype, designed in four personalities, and a new website are the first results of this new identity. After that, the interior is changed.
New interior design for the head office of the National Broadcasting Channel, located in three existing, dark buildings at the Media Park in Hilversum: this office space was re-created by COEN! to form a light, colourful and attractive working environment, with an ambience appropriate to a media concern.
The ‘MBO Raad’ is the Dutch Association of VET Colleges. The association represents all government--funded colleges for secondary vocational education and training and adult education in the Netherlands. The entrance to the building of this educational organization is highlighted by a colourful arch. COEN! created this art object called ‘gate to the future’, symbolizing the access to education.
